I think today's post fits the name of this community like a glove because of what happened recently, I'll tell you about it: Yesterday my oldest daughter was washing the bathroom, and by things of fate (things that are going to happen anyway) the toilet tank lid slipped and shattered 😱 and really more than the fact that it broke it made me very sad to see her countenance, her frustration and feeling of guilt, since she and her sister finally managed last year to gather everything needed for the remodeling of that bathroom (in fact you witnessed that) so that toilet is new. She started researching on the internet to see if they sold the toilet tank lid and apparently the results were discouraging, she told me that she could not find it, not even in EPA stores (a huge home products and remodeling store in Venezuela) They only sold the seat and the lid of the toilet bowl but not the tank lid. This obviously made her very sad because in order to solve the problem then there would be no choice but to buy a new toilet, which would obviously be much, much, much, much more expensive.
Creo que el post de hoy le va como anillo al dedo al nombre de esta comunidad por lo que pasó recientemente, les contaré: Ayer mi hija mayor estaba lavando el baño, y por cosas del destino (cosas que van a pasar de cualquier manera) la tapa del tanque del inodoro se resbaló y se hizo pedazos 😱 y de verdad más que el hecho de que se rompiera me dio mucha tristeza ver su semblante, su frustración y sentimiento de culpa, ya que ella y su hermana lograron finalmente el año pasado reunir todo lo necesario para la remodelación de ese baño (de hecho ustedes fueron testigos de eso) por lo tanto ese inodoro es nuevo. Ella se puso a investigar por internet a ver si vendían la tapa del tanque del inodoro y al parecer los resultados fueron desalentadores, me dijo que no la encontraba, ni siquiera en tiendas EPA (una enorme tienda de productos para el hogar y remodelación que hay en Venezuela) Solo vendían el asiento y la tapa de la taza del inodoro pero no la tapa del tanque. Esto obviamente la puso muy triste porque para poder solucionar el problema entonces no habría más remedio que comprar un nuevo inodoro, lo que obviamente saldría mucho pero mucho, muuucho más caro.
So I decided to look for a quick solution to at least make the toilet look better. I grabbed some anime sheets (also known in other countries as styrofoam or by its more universal name "expanded polystyrene"), a material I had in the house from some purchases we had made, and I simply glued a sheet over the others and drew the shape of the toilet lid taking as a guide the hole that had been left in the tank without lid, then, with the help of a hot knife to make it easier to slide, I cut out what I had drawn, even cut out the part of the hole where the flush buttons should go. Also with the knife I polished the edges to make them neater, giving depth to the structure so that it would fit in the hollow of the tank.
Así que decidí buscar una solución rápida para que por lo menos el inodoro tuviera un mejor aspecto. Agarré unas láminas de anime (también se conoce en otros países como telgopor o por su nombre más universal "poliestireno expandido") era un material que yo tenía en la casa de algunas compras que habíamos hecho, y simplemente pegué una lámina sobre las otras y dibujé la forma de la tapa del inodoro tomando como guía el hueco que había quedado en el tanque sin tapa, luego, con ayuda de un cuchillo caliente para que fuese más fácil de deslizar, recorté lo que había dibujado, incluso recorté la parte del hueco donde deberían ir los botones de descarga. También con el cuchillo fui puliendo los bordes para dejarlos más prolijos, dándole profundidad a la estructura para que calzara en el hueco del tanque.

Then I fitted the flush buttons in the hole I previously made and thank God it fit perfectly since I took the measurement with the buttons themselves, and finally, to give it an even more aesthetic look I put a cover that I had previously made 😊.
Después encajé los botones de descarga en el hueco que hice previamente y gracias a Dios calzó perfectamente ya que yo tomé la medida con los propios botones, y por último, para darle un aspecto aún más estético le puse una funda que yo había elaborado previamente 😊.

Modesty aside I think it looks pretty good, maybe not as strong and durable as its original cover but at least we solve the aesthetics problem and it is fully functional. Haha 😄 in my house, like all mothers and housewives my family knows me for being a kind of “utility” “handyman” or whatever they call it in any country, but I just like to look for the solution to the problems with what we have at hand, we can always solve any problem, just think a little and I'm sure we will find the solution.
Modestia aparte creo que se ve bastante bien, quizá no sea tan resistente y duradera como su tapa original pero al menos resolvemos el problema de la estética y es completamente funcional. Jaja 😄 en mi casa, al igual que todas las madres y amas de casa mi familia me conocer por ser una especie de "utility" "manitas" o como sea que le llamen en cualquier país, pero es que simplemente me gusta buscar la solución a los problemas con lo que tenemos a la mano, siempre podemos resolver cualquier inconveniente, solo basta pensar un poco y estoy segura de que encontraremos la solución.

Amiga que idea tan buena por lo menos has resuelto y te sigue funcionando el sistema de descarga. Aparte con su protector arriba no se nota.

Saludos @carmen1659 oye que mal por lo de la tapa, siempre duele porque uno quiere que todo en la casa se vea bonito, pero bueno, son cosas que pasa, pero es allí donde entra el ingenio humano, hacer esta tapa creativa para reemplazar por la otra está bien interesante. Gracias por compartirlo.
Sí vale, uno hace las cosas con esfuerzo y a veces pasan cosas como estas, pero bueno, a lo hecho pecho y solo queda buscar soluciones aunque sean alternativas y artesanales 😄. Muchas gracias por leer y comentar ¡Saludos!
