🦉 The common sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos)

While strolling along the shore in May, you might stumble across this small sandpiper. But this encounter will be short-lived; as soon as this fellow spots you, he'll fly away. Therefore, you have to either observe these birds from afar, or hide well in the thickets.

However, I've encountered these birds not only near the riverbanks, but also in completely insane places. Like a small stream (perhaps not even natural, but a process stream from an industrial plant), where one bird was walking through the mud looking for food, and this happened, by the way, in the steppes outside the city. I also encountered one in what was once a swamp, but it had long since dried up.
