🦉 The lesser whitethroat (Curruca curruca)

  • curruca - is an unidentified bird name mentioned in poems by the ancient Roman poet Juvenal

These birds live in bushes, and it doesn't matter where they are located. It can be a meadow, or just a forest or the edge of a forest. I met this particular bird in the photo in a meadow full of tall grass and bushes.
It is not difficult to guess that the bird makes its nest near the ground, at a low altitude, carefully hiding it from everyone.

It's funny that these birds like to raise the feathers on their heads, which makes them appear larger. And it seems to me that only males do this.
In dense thickets of bushes and grass, this bird jumps for a long time in search of food; if the bird sees danger, it makes a characteristic nasal signal.
