π¦ The European goldfinch or simply the goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis)
- Carduelis carduus (Latin) thistle

I almost always meet these birds in flocks, except in spring when they split into pairs. But I see them from afar or flying somewhere. I almost never get close to them, they are too timid. But I found out that if the bird is literally enjoying its favorite food - thistles, then you can get close to them carefully.

Already now it is possible to observe how various family groups unite in flocks and fly over open spaces where thistles grow. You can see both adult birds with red faces and young birds with orange faces in the older ones and grey in the younger ones.
