Birdwatching - 3131 🐦

🦉 Pallas's grasshopper warbler (Helopsaltes certhiola), also known as the rusty-rumped warbler
- Helopsaltes - ? To be honest, my etymological reference book does not contain such a name; it was obviously given to the bird quite recently.
- certhiola - diminutive of Certhia ((Greek) a small tree-crawling bird mentioned by Aristotle

We call this nondescript bird that looks like all other warblers "singing cricket". Unlike most other birds of this family (Locustellidae), it is varied and consists of different trills.
These birds spend a lot of time on the ground, moving along it very quickly. To be more precise, these birds fly little and reluctantly, which is somehow unusual for such birds. But they run and skillfully hide in the grass, and also nimbly climb bushes and plants.

Their favorite pastime is to stay close to the river, where it is damp, there is tall, thick grass, and bushes.
Actually, these photos were taken in the bushes near the river.
However, they can also live in dry places. On the opposite bank of the river there are meadows where I also met these birds.
