🦉 The coal tit or cole tit (Periparus ater)

  • Peri (Greek) very, hugely
  • Parus (lat.) Tit
  • ater (lat.) black, dark

This wonderful little bird of the tit family is not often found in the forests of my city. As a rule, you can meet them in the spring, during the mating season. At this time, the males actively sing, so they are easy to hear and notice. You can even turn on their voices on your phone, but do not expect that the bird will immediately fly close to you.

Its behavior differs from that of the great tit or willow tit, it is wilder and not accustomed to people.
They live mainly in coniferous forests, but in small numbers they also live in mixed forests. For some reason they disappear in the fall, although they are not migratory, which surprises me very much.
