My Entry to the #SMaP Show Me A Photo Contest Round 213 - Free Theme

During a recent visit to a local nature reserve, we witnessed a scene involving two Greylag geese having a water fight. The geese were splashing and flapping their wings, fighting for their territory, which is common behaviour during the breeding season. It does get a bit noisy around the ponds and lakes in springtime.

This is my entry to #SMaP Show Me A Photo Contest Round 213 - Free Theme.

Greylag geese are very noisy and have a very distinctive honking sound. They use honking sounds for social interactions, each serving a different purpose. All very interesting, but I wouldn't want to live next door to them!

In many areas of the UK, greylag geese have been brought back by releasing them in appropriate places. You can see these birds in groups around gravel pits, lakes, and reservoirs throughout the year. After a few minutes, calm was restored on the lake as both geese eventually went their separate ways.

Thank you to @nelinoeva and the team for running the contest.

Good morning, dear friend @ellenripley

How great to have a nature reserve to visit and enjoy the wildlife.

I loved watching these geese frolic in the water.

Beautiful photographs.

At first I thought they were courting, but then I read that they were having a fight. So feisty but very elegant.
