Necessity is the mother of invention

And at times some small invention stuns us.

20250110_165631.jpg

Does this look crazy ? The mechanic has guts to work like this without any fear, and has a pretty solid skill to fix any problem of car of any brand. Usually I always go to Authorized Service Centers for any kind of service, because I believe, it's always good to use genuine parts and have it serviced there, as they keep track of all the repair work and also follow up before time. The only down side is it pinches our pocket a little high, compared to what these mechanics charge. But this was an emergency situation - we had to go for a trip and the break failed. Ever heard of break failure and know why or how that happens ?

20250110_171439.jpg

There is a break cylinder loaded with break oils and if the oil leaks by any chance ( because of oil shield broken), then the cylinder fails, and the break paddle does not work. I did not know about this, as this is my first such experience in 16 years of driving. It can happen randomly, so now it makes sense to me, how people driving at a very high speed meet with deadly accidents because of break failure. And now the most fun part - the break oil leaked all over that tire, and initially I thought, a dog peed on it - ya our dogs have that habit😀, don't know what attracts them. We have one dog in the society and I have seen the owner allowing it to pee on vehicle tires. So even in the morning I noticed the fluid, I thought that dog peed and ignored. But after few hours, it looked same, so that alarmed me as we had the trip. Sending the vehicle to the service center would take more time, so I searched for nearby garages and got the contact of Kedar - the mechanic, who assured me to fix this quickly.

20250110_171611.jpg

When I reached the place which he mentioned, there was a garage, but it was closed. So I called him and he came from the other side of the road, and asked me to drive near this vehicle, which is their garage now.

20250110_165615.jpg

I was first shocked to see this, you call this your garage ? Has it been ever like this ? No Sir, it is just a temporary set up. That garage you saw closed was ours, but then the owner of that place increased the rent every month, demanding for more security amount and gave an ultimatum to vacate the place, if we cannot meet his demand. Five years back, we started this garage, at this place, which was an empty field. We invested all our money and energy over the time and slowly our customer base increased. But seeing our success, he kept on extracting money in every few months interval and now this was a regular affair every month. His intention probably is to vacate us and use our trust to run the garage himself, but God will not spare him. So finally we decided to bring all the tools necessary and kept in this car - right now it's our moving garage. I still get lot of jobs because of my commitment to customers - I assure, you will never be disappointed on the service quality or charges. And you can call me any time in emergency - 24/7. Even if your vehicle is in trouble in some other city, you can rely on me - yesterday I went to a place 120 km away and fixed a broken down vehicle and brought it here for full repair.

20250110_171048.jpg

And he is Kedar's brother - up-scaling his abilities, by learning it on the job. Kedar worked in a Authorized Workshop for years, before moving out to set up his own garage and who else could have been his best partner !!

20250110_171809.jpg

And I loved his service and attitude - a young boy with a pleasant smiling face all the time, appeared to be a perfectionist - he asked me if I am ok to fit local break cylinder then he can finish the job in a hour, else he will have to get the authentic one from a distant area. As I opted to go ahead with authentic parts, he called in someone and had it delivered. Throughout the process, he explained me everything - what he was doing and why. And finally when the job was done, I asked about the charges - he quoted ₹500 with a smiling face + the spare price, that he brought.

Sir, we will soon have our garage somewhere - we are looking out for places and I will inform all my customers once we are set. Bless me with your goodwill to make it happen sooner - I was speechless, my blessing will be always with you boy. You are so young and so dynamic, energetic and most importantly the smile on your face is a gift that very few have - keep aside the skill.

Most times, these road siders are even more diligent than we know it. Thanks to the unplanned situation you got the chance to see a cheaper way yet reliable way to fix your car problems. Hopefully you won’t have break failures in the meantime to prove his efficiency.

The car is 16 years old and it happened first time, so I won't expect another break failure, in another four years - after 20 years, the car should be scrapped as per govt policy, but we will see...

Thanks, goodness, you were not speedy. This break failure has caused many driver and passengers their life. It is good to see that you got a patient and experienced mechanic to fix the car. Some of the road side mechanic too are good. It is just that they may lack the tools and authentic equipment to use.

Wooow. That’s one awesome and very sincere mechanic. Carrying you through the whole process was super cool and that sweet smile, a good charm.

Some mechanics are dubious but this one will surely go places

That's right, necessity is always the mother of any invention, my friend, but even if it's very expensive, you should always go to the workshops that have the original parts, especially for brakes.

Let's hope so and that blessings fall upon the person who helped them fix the brakes and that they can open their own store very soon.

Our Gods always put in our path those Angels who help us solve any problem, no matter how complicated it may be. The truth is that there are people who are born with their ability and at the same time work to perfect it while with a smile they provide the service in the best possible way, no matter the situation they find themselves in.

I've had experience with roadside mechanics that are kind and knows their onions too. These guys sometimes are not valued until we need their help in times like this.

Yes I try now to shop local where I can and not give money to the multinational companies. I do love prompt service and being treated as a customer and not a nuisance!

That's why it's good never to judge a thing by it's look, temporary situations might cause a green fertile land to look dry. If it had not been for emergency, you would probably have told him now to worry. But not you have a new plug that would charge lesser for the perfect service.

For the land owner, majority of them to that, and that's from the place of envy and covetousness. But it excites me to know that Kedar never gave up.
