Barbaric assault on faith and humanity at Pahalgam, Kashmir
Nature does not discriminate between religions, terrorism has no religion.
Pahalgam is one of the most sought after destination in Kashmir, and the recent heinous terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam on Tuesday reminded me about our visit to the same place two years back. In a horrific and cowardice act, terrorists killed 28 civilians ( including one Nepali national and even one Christian) just because they were not Muslim. What was most disturbing was that, they asked the religion of these tourists and killed only the male member, leaving the women and telling them to convey the message to Modi, the Indian PM. They allowed the Muslim tourists to go untouched, and out of all the devastating news, the most crushing tragedy was a Hindu bride Himanshi who was married to a Naval officer Lt Vinay Narwal, just six days back. And the boy even belongs to one of my very close contacts in office, they went to Kashmir for honeymoon when the tragedy stuck.
In another horrific nightmare, a techie named Bharath from Bangalore was shot in front of his wife,a pediatrician, and their three-year-old son. The shocking incidence has caught attention of the entire globe and even the Kashmiri locals have strongly condemned the attack, as it directly affects the tourism which is their basic source of income. Hotel owners and shopkeepers of Pahalgam even held a candlelight protest against the attack - they know what tourism means for them, because they lived a very long period of life in fear and wants of basic amenities of life like education, hospitality, decent earning - just because of terrorism.
When we visited the place, I even discussed these topics with our drivers, hotel staffs and our trip mentor who belonged to Kashmir and they were very happy to see the valley transform into a peaceful place again, and their income growing because of surge in tourism. Most of the shops and hotels were closed earlier because of fear and people were forced to stay inside, living a restricted life, leading to poverty. Kids were not able to get proper education, and that was like killing a generation. Things changed since 2019, after which people started their business again, living a decent life.
Pahalgam is like a mini Switzerland, looking at these pictures, it provokes me to think - does this place belong to a religion ?
Several retaliation action have already been started by the Indian Government and even the US Government has noticed “Do Not Travel” advisory for Kashmir following this terrorist attack, but that won't bring back the lives of those who got killed in this unfortunate attack. It's one of the most barbaric assault on faith and humanity - terrorism has no religion because I personally believe a religion should never promote violence.

I will share more on our trip to this place in another post, but before I wrap, let me share a link that shows the heartbreaking state of Himanshi.

If a terrorist would have gone through same, would his wife tolerate ? Hope things will change permanently as the current generation gets educated well, it may take couple of decades, but I am sure, it will happen. The Kashmiri locals are very nice providing great hospitality to tourists. In this attack, a viral video showcases how a Kashmiri Youth helped a tourist injured.

Even it has been two years since our visit, we are in touch with our trip mentor who personally put effort and sends us dry fruits when we ask. Here are some screen shots of his whatapp status :
The difference is education, he is very well educated and understands the value of true education. Time is not far when they will wake up and then it will be a fight between humanity and terrorism, not religions.
And one very last clip which showcases how common sense and instinct saved someone :

Strict action should be taken against whoever did this and whoever did it, and the truth should be revealed, because whether people die on this side or on that side, they are all human beings and human life should not be wasted.
It needs a cultural shift for a permanent solution and only education can bring that, even though it takes a very long time.
Good morning, dear friend @sanjeevm
What sad news for the entire world. What happened was a huge shock.
I find it hard to believe that such beings exist, with this level of violence.
Few things anger me, and this is one of them.
Yes, unfortunately. Life is going to be so hard for those who survived with these horrific memory.
This is such a sad incident, I still don't get why people kill because of religion. That's one of the problems we are facing in my country currently. It's just so sad and pathetic
I'm sorry to hear that stuff like this has made its way to your country. Unfortunately, we have been dealing with similar things for years in the US. It's sad the amount of hate there is in the world. Especially from religions that claim to be peaceful.
Yes, they have an extremist propaganda, and brain wash people to join them and perform these tragic and horrific act.
Like you said, nature doesn't discriminate religious. And I don't think terrorism has a religion. It is we humans that manipulate and fight all in the name of religion.
What really affected me was the story of Himanshi, a Hindu bride who lost her husband just six days after their wedding.
There is a need for education to ensure a future where humanity triumphs over violence. People need to be sensitive and give proper orientation that human life matters no matter what and that we are all the same in the hand of the Maker.
Exactly, and it already started since 2019. People now feel the difference when they see their kids getting better education. When those kids will be young, they will not tolerate this barbarism, because they will want to lead a better life.
That sounds soul refreshing. It is better that way. Enlightenment will surely go a long way. I'm sure.
People should have the right to choose the religion which they want to
Why kill because of religion? Even God doesn’t want us to do such
A tragic event by those indoctrinated into madness by their groomers.
It is true that no religion should ever be promoted through violence. Let's hope that all these terrorist attacks can be resolved very soon so that prosperity
Sadly with terrorism there are no words that work, they need to be all neutralized for good in a way that no one else will want to be a terrorist again... It's not possible in 2025 to suffer from terrorism
Wow this is the first I am hearing about this. Imagine executing someone for their religion. This goes against the core of any religion I have ever looked into and these extremists surely are mentally ill.
I can't even imagine what those families will go through for the rest of their lives. Radical scum.
heartbreaking....

A total tragedy. We hope that these terrorist attacks can be resolved very soon because such a beautiful place should be full of tourists and now it won't be due to religious beliefs.
This isn’t my first time hearing about this
Just like the Boko Haram. They kill people who are not practicing Islam in Nigeria and that’s unfair
Why would people be killed because of the religion that they practice?
Yes, there should be one agenda by all nations - eliminate terrorists - they misguide people with religious brain wash.
also terrorist's also have no religion. they only use religion to play blame game.
As they say, it is an attack against humanity and they are sending a very clear message: whoever is not with them is their enemy.
