Third time's the charm!! I received a postcard and some updates
It's been three months since I last wrote a post in Hive. But believe me, there is a good reason behind that. Since I arrived in Caracas last February, my life has revolved around one thing, to empty my mom’s apartment. Last year, my mom had been gradually moving into my house, but her apartment was still full of stuff, and when I say full, I mean FULL. 53 years living in the same place is enough to accumulate a lot. It has been an exhausting task, and fortunately, there is little left to do there. But I still have lots of boxes in my house to organize and clear. So many photos full of memories that I would like to digitize, and maybe share some. I have a lot to write about, but that can wait a few more days.
Because today, even though I had in mind to sit on the couch with Milo to watch a movie, I am too eager to write and tell you that I received it!
I finally received the postcard @livinguktaiwan sent me. So yes, the saying goes right this time, third time's the charm.
I couldn't believe it when I saw it in my mailbox.
I honestly had given up hope that the postcard would arrive someday. Mail service here is almost non existent.
You see, when LUT wanted to do her experiment of sending postcards from Taiwan in February 2023, I signed up to take part in it. She could not send me the postcard from Taiwan because there was no mail service from there to Venezuela, but a month later, she sent me one from the UK, and it never arrived.
That same year, she tried again with a Christmas postcard that also never arrived.
In October 2024, she wrote me a message telling me she had sent me another postcard, in the hope for better luck this time. And when I returned to Caracas from Bogotá last February, I was excited to see an envelope in the mailbox. I had not seen one for years, and I thought it would be the postcard, but no. It was a bank envelope. But I thought at the moment, “ It had been a long time since anything had arrived by mail, so who knows, maybe I would get the postcard this time after all.”
But weeks went by, and nothing. I don't often pass by the mailboxes since I use to enter the building by the garage, but every time I have to receive someone who comes to visit, I take a look at the mailboxes on my way.
This afternoon, when I went to greet a family friend who was coming to bring some alfajores to my mom, I looked in the mailbox, and surprise!! there was something in it. I crossed my fingers that it was the postcard. And there it was.
I went home so excited, like a child who had been given a bag full of chocolates.
I couldn't pass up sharing it with you here. So, I made myself a cup of coffee.
I served it in this cup that I brought from my mom's house. A small treasure to me.
I used to drink in this cup at my grandmother's house when I was a little child. I was surprised to see it in my mom’s house, and now it is my cup for the afternoon coffee. I stole one of the alfajores from my mom, and here I am writing this post after three months of silence in Hive to tell you how happy I am to have finally received the postcard. So thank you, Pauline!!!❣️
I don't want to make false promises, but I hope to be back here in the next few days and not have to spend three more months to write a post. I will be moving out what is left in my mother's apartment soon, and in a few weeks, I hope to be able to travel to Bogotá to see my hubby. I also have a few things to tell you about a little trip I made last month to Mérida when I took a few days to rest and recharge my batteries.
Otherwise, all is well at home, and Milo is still as spoiled as ever.
I brought a couple of pieces of furniture from my mom's house, and he has already taken possession of them.
That's all for today. Thank you for reading!
Aaawww that’s wonderful you received her card. Third time lucky indeed…
It traveled a long time.
Good to hear all is well. I know it’s a lot of work you have been doing.
Take care. Sending a big !HUG

Yep, it luckly arrived this time hehe. It's a pity that traditional mail is no longer in style, it's so much fun to receive a letter or a physical postcard, right?
I hope you are fine dear Jackie, big hugs! 🌱🌷
I know, it is a shame people no longer use it really. I always enjoyed sending postcards, especially When I was traveling.
I am fine, thank you hope you too. Planning our next adventure… haha driving back north/ home from southern France.
Sending a big huggg too 🤗

😁 Best regards to you and Milo.
Now we just need to wait for yours to arrive.... Patience 🐌
🤔 We must not lose hope.
I couldn't believe it when I saw it in the mailbox, I had completely given up hope of receiving it, so who knows, if it comes to you too. Let's hope so 🤞
Milo te envía las gracias jeje 😸
It is really good to see you back here dear Elli... Big Hug from Brittany!!!
Thank you Dude!! It's nice to be around again :) Big hugs
Wow, the last time I received postcards was maybe more than 20 years ago. I remember how exciting it was to receive beautiful postcards from other places. It was so thoughtful and sweet of her to send you those postcards though some never arrived. Maybe it was already left in a bunch of piles at the post office. That cute cup is a precious treasure for you as you had nostalgic memories attached to it.
It's true, receiving postcards and letters from friends from elsewhere was a lot of fun. It's a pity that now everything is online. That's why I was so excited that the postcard finally reached me.
Thanks for stopping by :)
That's wonderful news @coquicoin !! It only took 7 months 😆 but better late than never, which is what happened to the previous two. I'm so glad my postcard from Athens finally arrived to you, I just wonder where but has been all these months.
And I hope to see you back on Hive morr often! Take care
Yes, it is wonderful that it has arrived!
Mee too! And I wonder where in the world are the others two postcards hehe.
Thank you again for been so persistent in sending the postcard, I really appreciated it. I don't dare to offer to send you a postcard from here, because I don't think there is anywhere to deliver it in the first place to send it LOL but I would love to try to send you one from Bogota next month, if you agree send me your address by DM. I would love to try.
See you around, take care 🤗
I'm so happy to read you! The important thing is that you are well, Hive can wait and when you have the necessary time and energy here we will receive your new publications with open arms.
How good that you finally received Pauline's postcard, it always seemed like a miracle to me to receive in the mailbox those envelopes that someone sent from other parts of the world, something so small and light is easy to get lost, and in your case you checked it twice!
I love the cup where you now drink your coffee. Like the postcard, she has also travelled from house to house to return to you.
Keep taking care of yourself and doing what you touch. May you continue well, a big hug, dear.
Hola querida Paloma
It is so cool that the postcard arrived. Pauline did not give up and despite the two failed attempts. She sent me a third postcard that arrived 7 months later 😅 but arrived! 😄
I love to hear from you. Hope all is well. I will slowly get back on track with Hive.
Un fuerte abrazo!
You brought back memories of when I was a teenager and looked through the letterbox every day, eager to receive letters from my friends in the village. It's a shame that this beautiful form of communication is being lost. I’m glad this time you were lucky!! 😘
Glad you are back and getting your stuff organized. I was impressed about the postcard, I hadn't thought of that. It's true that our mail service is almost non-existent, we use parcel services to send anything. I'm glad to read you again dear @coquicoin . A big hug from Maracay.
The mail service disappeared suddenly, I never saw a post office, the Ipostel ones anymore hehe.
Thanks a lot, my friend! Hope you and your family are doing great. Un abrazo!
Glad you're back, I was wondering where you are before😁.
How are you? I hope you are fine 🤗
I'm fine thank you. Hehehe😁
Great seeing you again Eli!
Awesome that your postcard finally arrived. Mine took months (I'm sure the sorting was delayed on our side) Sending a card to the UK was much quicker.
Sorting through 53 years of living must have been a monumental task, glad that you're finally seeing the light there!
Milo look quite contented.
Take care of yourself Eli🤗

What a surprise, sis! Alas, you received the postcard after a long time. It's good to hear you're doing well and that taking care of your Mom's stuff is almost done. I can only imagine how plentiful her things are. 😊
I love the cup. It must be full of memories, hehe.
Milo is looking gorgeous and he has filled out now, no longer with spindly legs!
I love that mug and so glad you finally got a postcard!
Hope things are slowing down for you now and you are enjoying the weekend Super Eli, give Milo a hug from me 💙
