Natural Cleaner

Greetings to everyone this October, hoping you are peaceful, healthy, and happy. One of my current concerns is the polluting power of the cleaners I use at home. This worries me because I have pets (dogs and cats), and lately, my youngest cat has acquired the bad habit of licking the small puddles of water that remain in the inner yard. These puddles are due to the fact that I wash that area with soap and water, so I rinse the floor very well to remove any detergent residue that could poison my cat..

On the other hand, I have stingless bees in my house, and these insects are very susceptible to contaminants. In short, I try to use only a few detergents and avoid insecticides unless absolutely necessary.

I usually use white vinegar very frequently, whether to wash clothes, dishes or floors; however, I have been seeing on some social networks for a while, the mixture made with vinegar and citrus peels, so taking advantage of the fact that I recently made a Brazilian or Swiss lemonade, I decided to take advantage of the peels that were left over from this recipe, and make this maceration, to test its effectiveness as a cleaner..

It's worth noting that this preparation surprised me because it's effective at removing grease from floors and in the kitchen, and also at repelling flies. For 400 ml of this preparation, you need the following ingredients:

  • Approximately 50 grams of citrus peels, in this case I used lime peels.

  • 400 ml of white vinegar, although apple cider vinegar can also be used.

  • 2 clean glass jars with their lids.

  • A colander.

Doing it is simple. First of all, it is necessary to have all the materials ready, on a clean work surface.

Place the citrus peel pieces in one of the jars.

Cover with white vinegar. Seal the jar tightly and store in a dark place for at least 3 days..

After this time has elapsed, open the jar and strain its contents, transferring it to another clean glass jar with a lid..

As you can see in the photos, the color is amber, a pale yellow with greenish tones. As for the smell, it's quite potent, combining the aroma of vinegar with the citrus scent of the peels.

This cleaner surprised me, as I used it in the dining area and it immediately scared off the flies, although to be honest, they returned after almost an hour. It's also quite effective at removing grease stuck to surfaces, as I used it to clean the kitchen, and it softened the grease residue in this area, making it easier to remove. I suppose this cleaning power is a product of the combination of vinegar and the substances present in citrus peels. In any case, I'm satisfied with this natural cleaner.

Here I conclude today's post, in which I've shared a natural cleansing alternative that's super effective and very easy to make. I say goodbye to you, wishing you lots of health and well-being and remember: Not all days are the same and more importantly: Everything you give, everything you do, will inexorably return to you. Hugs!
