As Easy As It Gets!

Well Hello There Fellow Technicians And Hivers!

Well without a doubt I've gotten the easiest oil leak to fix ever! I don't think I'll ever again find such luck in something heck I doubt I'll ever even find a job as easy as this one was today!

Okay it's a little bit of a comeback and with automatic transmissions one tends to think the worst, always the worst possible scenario.

Oh it was leaking oil, I suppose that's a transmission removal right there! Nope! Not this time though!

We fitted the transmission about three weeks ago and today the owner came back stating that he saw a few drops in his driveway but very little and it's not excessive but he thought to bring it back in case. I am very glad he decided to bring it back and not just continue driving the vehicle because sooner or later the oil would be all leaked out and we'd have to rebuild the transmission again!

Here she is, the beautifull Mazda 6!

Now this is anticlimactic!

Before I lifted the car I just gave a peek down below and at first glance it looked like it could be the sideshaft seal that was leaking but when I jacked it up I saw a whole different picture.

By the looks of it, it was the o-ring fitted on the output sensor that was leaking. It might be that I pinched it while putting the sensor into place when we fitted the transmission. This is the first time that we've had a transmission leaking through one of the sensors.

Here I thought I was going to do some hard work but it seems not!

I Made A Call.

After removing the original o-ring (The one on the bottom right hand side) I decided to get one that was exactly the same (The middle o-ring) and then I decided to get one just a little bit thicker than the original size just in-case the original size still gives a leaking.

But we've got some other stuff here.

The Oil Is A Problem.

Not too big of a problem though.

When I removed the output shaft sensor naturally oil will come leaking out and when it did it didn't look all that bright. Don't get me wrong it's not bad, not bad at all. It just doesn't look like it's suppose to, but we can fix that.

I remember back when we quoted the client he didn't want us to send in the converter for a refurbishment so it might be that some of the dirty oil got mixed up with the fresh oil making it look more used than it really is.

There we were draining it all out. Now this oil isn't a complete waste, no no.

This can be re-used for small top up on cars that only need a little bit, we have a lot of clients coming in asking for just a top up and not a drain and fill. I mean what is the use of pouring in fresh oil on a beat up and leaking transmission. We mostly don't even charge people for the top ups we do unless we top it off with new oil, then we charge.

But out with all of that!

This Is Crucial.

Normally this isn't as crucial when you're doing a drain on the transmission and then remove it after wards but when draining and filling a automatic it would be the best to have the car level while draining and filling.

Having the car level at equal height is much more important when filling it up again, then you absolutely HAVE to level the car because if not the vehicle will be tilted and the reading on the dipstick of the transmission would be in-accurate.

So I jacked up the rear end of the vehicle while draining as well because I want to get every last bit of oil out!

The Good Stuff!

The first official bottle of oil bought and sold by us. See Bossman has a huge workshop and such a huge part is already dedicated to storing oil that he thought he would start selling oil as well.

Last week the first batch of oil arrived and this is the very first one that we booked out for us it's also the very first one we've sold. I know this sounds weird, laughs but it works!

It doesn't have the most convenient filling plug that has ever been made!

Slow and steady will get you there, it's time consuming to pour oil in, really it is.

Now I know the funnel is big and it can hold a lot more than what I've added but keep in mind that there is a smaller funnel down below which can't keep up with the supply of the big funnel and therefor I have to do this slowly and wait for the oil to fill up in the transmission.

Life Of A Techie!

You Thought We Were Done!

Well yeah me too! But this car has been having a battery problem since the day it was booked in and the owner finally gave in and listened to us and decided to replace the battery after all! So with the oil change we also fitted a new battery

Ahhh I like how it looks!

Ending It On A Good Note.

Now we have this thing in place that if a vehicle comes in for a oil leak problem we take care of the leak and then we take care of everything!

When a car leaks oil it goes everywhere! Absolutely everywhere and the only way to get most of it off is to pressure wash the whole damn thing!

So before we can hand this vehicle back to the owner we gave it a good thorough washing!

Well that marks the end of that!

Hey, it's good that you were able to correct that oil leak without much difficulty, well friends, these are things that happen, at least what you bought was the oil and the oring.
