We have reached the end of the FIFA Club World Cup, with the final match played a few days ago and an unexpected result. I think one of the biggest reasons people love football is that the teams expected to win don't always win.

The final match was between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, and PSG was the clear favorite. Everyone expected them to win because they had won almost all of their matches up to that point and had dominated their opponents. Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and even Real Madrid couldn't mount an attack against them. However, when the match began, Chelsea started to show that things would be different. When Chelsea took the lead in the 21st minute, everyone still thought PSG would come back, but they conceded another goal shortly after, making it 2-0. Considering how strong a team PSG is, they could have turned the match around against any opponent, but that wasn't the case.

While watching the match, I felt that the PSG players weren't playing with enough desire. I don't know if I'm the only one who felt this, but for example, Nuno Mendes, who was my favorite player throughout the tournament, wasn't running at all, just waiting in defense, and wasn't making the passes that left the opposing team helpless. Dembele, who had been performing exceptionally well throughout the tournament, seemed like a substitute in this match. Of course, they found a few opportunities, but they couldn’t capitalize on them.

Towards the end of the first half, Chelsea made it 3-0, and I realized that was the end of it. In the second half, neither team played well. Chelsea tried to run down the clock, and Paris' attacks weren't effective enough. I think around the 70th minute, Ramos missed a 99% chance, and that was it. On Chelsea's side, Delap also wasted a few chances. I've already mentioned the betting aspect, so I don't want to go back to that, but it's very interesting that after three goals in the first half, there were no goals in the second half. And of course, it's another oddity that PSG, the favorites, couldn't score a single goal.

Setting aside the losing side, from Chelsea's perspective, they put up an incredible defensive performance, and goalkeeper Sanchez played one of the best matches of his career in recent years. He handled long-range shots exceptionally well. He anticipated several opportunities in advance, leaving his goal early to clear the ball before the position even formed. The match-winner was Cole Palmer. Palmer is a player I really admire, and it wouldn't be wrong to say he single-handedly won the match. He scored two goals and provided an assist. He was a key figure in all three goals. In my opinion, the second goal was particularly incredible. He deceived his opponents with a feint pass and placed the ball perfectly in the corner. His shots aren't particularly powerful, but they always go where they need to, leaving the goalkeeper helpless.

In the end, the only winner of this story was Chelsea, but there were many losers. The European teams participating in this tournament unfortunately had to prepare for the season without much of a break. For example, the Premier League will start on August 16-17, which means these players only have one month to take a break and then prepare for the season. On the other hand, there are players like Musiala, the rising star of world football, who may have lost a year due to the tournament. In my opinion, such a tournament is completely unnecessary. Perhaps it could be viable if the number of teams were reduced and the tournament were shorter. For example, if 16 teams participate and play knockout matches, each team would play a maximum of four matches. This would reduce the tournament by approximately 15 days, leaving players with time to rest.
