Saturday was an up-and-down day with a solid win in the La Louviere vs Dender match where it quickly became clear that it was going to be an under affair so I backed the Under 2 and the 0-0 correct score both at high odds while setting the stake safe along the way. I did give some back in the Antwerp match afterward. Still 4 more matches to go on Sunday with a couple of interesting ones so I do expect more betting action...

Anderlecht vs Standard

Anderlecht this season simply hasn't been that good, and the fact that they are near the top of the standings mostly comes down to the opposition also failing. The main problem is quality especially in front of the goal as their main striker now is Vasquez after Dolberg left. He used to be a player you don't really want to bring in and systematically has shown to be just not good enough. Last week they played a poor 1st half but a better 2nd half landing at a fair 1-1 draw against OHL again scoring in a way that wasn't really a played out chance. Their created xg is only 1.01 in their last 5 matches on average while it used to be higher early in the season when Dolberg was still there. At the same time they have 1.36xg against on average in those matches. Their defense looks fairly ok and Hasi remains a rather defensive coach. Standard under Evrard has improved a lot and they seem to have a clear play which starts from the defensive angle. Last week at home they played their best match of the season against Club Brugge bringing good intencity but still losing 1-2 in the end. Against Westerlo 2 weeks ago away they were all about defence and managed to finish at 100% which resulted in a 0-2 Win and I expect that they will try the same strategy today. That match ended in a 7-1 corners score. Anderlecht in that same week against a defensive Antwerp didn't get further than a 0-0 draw as they tried but simply were not good enough. I do think Anderlecht is overrated on the market while Standard has shown good things. I expect Anderlecht to come out with high intensity and a lot of pressing from both sides. I took 0.3 units on Under 2.75 @ 1.917 / 0.2 units on 1st Half Under 1.25 @ 1.800 / 0.4 units on Standard +1 @ 1.880 / 0.1 unit on Anderlecht Team Total Under 1.75 @ 1.940 / & 0.1 unit on Anderlecht 1st Half -1.25 Corners @ 1.810

Genk vs Dender

Genk is in a difficult spot as they are down in the standing and are trying to turn things around but so far it isn't really working out that well. The main issue is that they pklay the same style as last year but they are a bit weaker both on the defense and offensive end. This makes it harder for them to score goals while they rarely keep a clean sheet. This once again was shown against Ferensvaros in the Europe League as they lost 0-2 . Last week they managed to win against Stvv away but they needed luck on their side. The week before at home against Union they made a good impression but in the end also lost. They will be without key player El Ouahdi but aside from that still have a strong team. Fatigue might be a bit of an issue. Dender is last in the league and have a really hard time to score goals at just 0.4xg in their last 4 on average. They are last in the league and only scored twice so far. On paper, this should be an opportunity for Genk to tank some confidence before the international break. Dender kept the clean sheet last week against La Louviere and were not horrible against AA Gent despite the 3-0 loss. This match is one where if the odds are high enough, I'm willing to go for a comfortable home win. I managed to take just 0.056 units on Genk -1.5 @ 2.163 with an eye to possibly take more in-game. The Genk Win & Both to score bet is one I always have in mind but in the case of Dender, I'm not sure I can trust them to score.

Club Brugge vs Union SG

Both teams lost in Europe with Club Brugge having an extra day rest but they also traveled. Brugge is a team who tend to do well against offensive opponents in Europe but they often struggle and lack motivation against weaker opponents who mainly defend. This match could be one where Club Brugge gets the ball similar to the match of Union away against Genk while the visitors try to be deadly on the counter. These are the 2 teams who have the lowest xg against on average this season at 1.05 for Club and 0.56 for Union. At the same time, they top therankings in xg for at 1.82 for Club Brugge & 2.22 for Union. Club Brugge is already 7 points behind in the standings so they in theory have to win while a draw would not be a bad result for Union. At the same time, an away win would make the gap a whole lot bigger.Honestly I probably could make a case for both sides and have no real clue so I'm waiting to see how the match plays out. Westerlo vs OH Leuven

Westerlo is one of those teams that is hard to get a grip on as the switch solid performances with poor ones and form of the day is key for them. It's not the fist time that their matches start kind of slow but that there are a ton of goals out of nowhere. Last week they were unable to break the solid Union Defense while the week before they scored 5 away against Club Brugge. The one thing with Westerlo is that I have learned (the hard way) to not to trust them on under bets so that isn't an option. OHL have been serial underperformers for the last couple years and they still suffer from this syndrome. They are 2nd last in the league and backing them feels like a big gamble even though I see them capable of putting up good results. I would not be surprised for another rather closed start of the match where westerlo takes the initiative without too much risk and for at some point for goals to come in bunches. So I'm holdig out for a possible over bet at better odds in-game. For now, No Pre-Game Bets
