A Different Looking Me of the Past

Hello friends and Hivians. Hope all is well, I'm doing alright. For today's post I'm going share three teenage pictures of myself in the distant past. This is an initiative of @mipiano in the Three Challenges community. If you want you can get more inspiration by checking out her post by clicking here.

I feel a little vulnerable but no worries you can laugh at my expense. I'll admit I got some good laughs this weekend going through pictures as I visited my mother for her 80th Birthday. I'm no longer a spring chicken no more so these go back 30 plus years ago. It was a different era and let's say I had some different hair styles and wore different clothes.

Picture 1
1000002586.jpg

Before I tell you about this picture I have to go back to 1985-1987. My brother got a perm around this time and being about 5 years younger than him I looked up to him. So I got a perm too, originally I thought I was a teenager but its more than likely just before turning a teenager. There is one more detail, I couldn't find the photo but if I do I will share it with whoever wants to see it. I thought it wasn't a good look for me back than and seeing the picture about 10 years ago I agree with my younger self, hehe.

So this picture was taken from a photographer at school on picture day. The rest you will see are as well. I was an early teen at 13 years old. When I was about 12 years old I decided to let my hair grow a little bit. It was taken in 1987 before my 14th birthday birthday. Golly I still remember wearing that shirt as I wore it quite often. I think it was in my things to wear for a few years.

Picture 2

1000002588.jpg

Here's me at 15 with a shorter hairstyle. It's short because I decided to shave my head down to nothing that summer. What do you think of that shirt? Don't be fooled it's one shirt and there is no undershirt it just appears there is. The black part (piece of cloth) was sewed underneath the collar. No its not a household job but purchased that way. Think of it as a fake like a clip on tie, haha. I remember not wearing this for very long. It more or less just fell apart.

Picture 3

1000002584.jpg

Alright I didn't have my hair cut in the back after buzzing it all off for a bit. This picture is the following school year. This would be the longest I have ever had my hair. Funny fact, I used either gel or mousse to slick it back and put it in a pony tail. I guess you can say I was going for the Steven Seagal look, haha. It wasn't long after this picture I went for the shorter look again. I have never had longer hair again. Usually I get a hair cut every few weeks now. I just can't stand it when my hair touches my ears. I guess my time in the military rubbed off on me.

So are you willing to share your past teenage years? Why not it's a piece of ourselves that many of us can enjoy. In a sense we are an upgrade of that person due to the experiences we have had since then. Now its not just for the laughs. Some of us can relate and reminiscence about those past styles and the overall era of that time. Hey maybe for some it will bring a smile by thinking of the good old days. If anything it's good to share a look back in the past.

Well I will end this letting you know that there were a couple more pictures that didn't make the cut. I have them now but I really don't have a use for them. So if you will, I'll be generous and share them in comments if you ask for them. Theres four, basketball playing, opening a Christmas present, karate sparring and one of me celebrating my high school graduation at home.

That's all I have for you. Take care, stay safe, and enjoy the rest of the week. Until next time!

Now its a thing of the past. Thankfully we have phones to take pictures now. Wait these are even more expensive. How do we afford them? haha

Back then it was a luxury for us! If was expensive, the film and budget to develop those pictures 😆.

I remembered back then on special occasions like if we have award at school that's the time my mom would buy film ,12shots . Yet sometimes none

Just look for a friend or neighbors who had a ask for at least one shot

So you need to be at your best pose!

I can understand that, here not too expensive back than maybe because the film was manufactured here. Plus there were several places to get them developed. Even some poor people could afford. We weren't rich by all means. My mom had a Polaroid than got a cheaper permanent one. Nothing had protruding lens, haha.

One thing that caught my eyes the most in these photos was the thick eyebrow. Wish I have that kind of thickness, please donate some of that to me. I need more hair in my eyebrows, lolol. Cool you are still keeping them. Look how much you had fun going through your photo albums. Ehehe. I think I still have photos in here that I can share but let see.

While I was looking at your photos and reading the post, I was laughing... But not at you, but thinking about my photos from my teenage years... lol... I had a "way of thinking" similar to yours... Firstly, I had long hair, and after that, I cut it to 2mm!! I still remember the day when my hairdresser asked me 3 times before cutting it... 😂

And regarding fashion, you did very well... I beat you there by 100 with my ridiculous "style"... 😃

One more thing... Seeing my son in his teenage years, and what he is wearing, acting, etc., I enjoy imagining him in 20 years looking at his photos... 😂 In some way, looking at our children, it's like re-living our teenage years... 🤣

It's fun to look back at ourselves and others. I don't have to go back far. I can go back 8 years ago and see what my son was wearing. Even he gets a kick out of it. He never really wore pants that often. He would wear long shorts and socks. There wouldn't be much skin showing either, haha. Had the pants effect anyways.

Oh fashion those were school picture day photos. I had some other clothing gear that won't be worn today. I remember wearing parachute pants and those homemade stone washed jeans. Had a selection of 3/4 sleeve shirts too. Also had a rather large heavy metal shirt collection. Oh those designs back than, haha.

Oh the hair it's been awhile since I carried a comb on me. Today that's something I don't see often, guys carrying combs in thier back pocket

I envy you for still having photos from your younger years because I don't have 😥

Your son truly looks like you in the 2nd photo, hehe..
Seeing your younger photos, I remember your series of stories about the girls you dated before. How old were you at those times?

Yup at some point I'd like to make them all digital. I'd hate to see them go or be lost. Never know nature or other happenings like floods, fire or tornadoes

Just like what happened to ours.. typhoons ruined them all even the framed ones

Thats sad i deal with a lot of weather but glad i dont have to do what tropical storms can turn into. My father's side of family had a huge collection of photos that dated back to the 1870's but they were all lost in a house fire in the 1940's.

I like the first photo with the perm. Hehehe😁. Looking at our old photos can also bring back memories😌. Sadly our photos back then got wet and vanished😛😁. I'm not sure if there's anything left😐.

Ya I worry about loosing them also. Want to start digitalizing them. Oh would you believe i use to have a pick in my back pocket, haha. I only went through the perm era for less than a year

Now we can store it in our phone and can look through it once in a while. Last time we also do that. Keeping IDs in our wallet.😌😁

Yup and so much easier to send to family and friends that are away. Ha I remember keeping pictures in my wallet, I haven't done that in forever. Usually it included a group family photo and maybe a current girl friend at that time. Usually they got faded or the image stuck to the plastic sleeve, haha.

That's what happened to our photos before. The image stock to the plastic album that my mother used to store our photos😐😬.

Cool photos @coolmidwestguy ;)

As my husband already said, he also had his phases of long and short hair 😁 When our son was small I wanted him to have long hair, and it lasted until he was around 8 and he decided not to follow my hairstyle suggestions anymore 😭 He was blond, like his dad in his teenage days in the long-hair phases, but now they both have dark hair. My influence lol 😂

My son currently has that long bang fad where its curly at the ends. The rest of his hair is short though. Haha we all really have had different hair dews.

From blonde to dark hair you must have some powers over them 😆 🤣 😂
