Un día muy especial/A Very Special Day (Esp-Eng)
Ayer fue un dia diferente y especial para mi hijo y también para mi. Ayer defendió su Informe Técnico para graduarse como Técnico Medio en Electricidad y aprobó con la máxima calificación. Durante varios meses estuvimos trabajando en la realización de dicho Informe para que fuera lo más completo posible y todo saliera bien. Digo estuvimos porque yo fui parte de todo ese proceso.

Yesterday was a different and special day for my son and also for me. He defended his Technical Report to graduate as a Mid-Level Technician in Electricity and passed with the highest grade. For several months, we worked on developing this report to make it as complete as possible and ensure everything went well. I say "we" because I was part of the entire process.
Estoy feliz, no lo puedo disimular ni quiero. Ver crecer a mi hijo, haberlo cuidado y dado el tamaño que tiene, no ha sido tarea fácil. Verlo hacerse un adolescente, un joven, un hombrecito, una persona de bien, es uno de los grandes logros de mi vida. Siempre supe que él podía y pudo.
I am happy, and I cannot hide it, nor do I want to. Watching my son grow, caring for him, and raising him to be the person he is today has not been an easy task. Seeing him become a teenager, a young man, a little man, and a good person is one of the greatest achievements of my life. I always knew he could do it, and he did.
Desde hace tres años y medio, cuando comenzó a estudiar su carrera en el Instituto Politécnico Ho Chi Minh, veiamos este día tan lejano, y es que han sido tiempos muy difíciles en el país y todo eso se refleja en el actuar de los jóvenes. El camino no fue fácil. Hubo días de desaliento, de dudas económicas y de cansancio extremo. En más de una ocasión, mi hijo quiso dejar la escuela para ponerse a trabajar, como casi todos sus amigos, pero yo jamás estuve de acuerdo con eso y fui firme con él.
For three and a half years, since he began his studies at the Ho Chi Minh Polytechnic Institute, we saw this day as something distant. These have been very difficult times in our country, and it reflects in the actions of young people. The path was not easy. There were days of discouragement, financial doubts, and extreme exhaustion. More than once, my son wanted to leave school to start working, like almost all his friends, but I never agreed with that and stood firm with him.
Luego de cinco meses de prácticas en una empresa, donde recibió, de su tutor, un excelente aval, ayer llegó el gran día. Como siempre pasa conmigo, fuimos los primeros en llegar a su escuela. A la hora de hacer la prueba preguntaron quien iba a ser el primero en exponer, enseguida mi "niño" dijo que él. No sé si porque se sentía seguro, o por ser el primero en salir del susto. El caso es que lo hizo bien, respondió con acierto las preguntas que le hicieron y obtuvo 100 puntos.
After five months of internships at a company, where he received an excellent endorsement from his mentor, yesterday was the big day. As always happens with me, we were the first to arrive at his school. When it was time for the presentation, they asked who would be the first to present, and my "boy" immediately volunteered. I don’t know if it was because he felt confident or because he wanted to get the nervousness over with first. The fact is, he did well, answered the questions correctly, and scored 100 points.
Para una madre, el orgullo no se mide en números, pero cuando esos números reflejan sacrificio, constancia y superación, se convierten en símbolos de una victoria compartida, porque metafóricamente hablando, yo también me estoy graduando.
For a mother, pride is not measured in numbers, but when those numbers reflect sacrifice, perseverance, and growth, they become symbols of a shared victory because, metaphorically speaking, I am also graduating.
Tal vez habrá quien subestime la formación técnica, sin embargo, ser un electricista es un oficio esencial, porque la electricidad, como bien refleja mi hijo, en su trabajo final, es el sistema nervioso de la sociedad moderna, es un campo que mantiene en movimiento al mundo. Para mí, cada instalación o trabajo que él realice, llevará consigo no solo su conocimiento, sino también el amor y los valores transmitidos en esos tres años y medio de recorrido conjunto.
Some may underestimate technical training, but being an electrician is an essential trade because electricity, as my son reflected in his final project, is the nervous system of modern society—a field that keeps the world moving. For me, every installation or job he does will carry not only his knowledge but also the love and values instilled during these three and a half years of shared journey.
Mi orgullo de madre en este momento es un sentimiento que se expande, que abraza a todos los que creyeron, a los profesores que guiaron y a los familiares y amigos que celebran que mi hijo alcance este importante objetivo en su vida. Pienso en mi hermana que ya no está y lo feliz que sería de ver a su sobrino graduado.
My motherly pride at this moment is a feeling that expands, embracing everyone who believed, the teachers who guided him, and the family and friends who celebrate my son achieving this important goal in his life. I think of my sister, who is no longer here, and how happy she would have been to see her nephew graduate.
Esta felicidad es la certeza de que, más allá de las calificaciones, mi muchacho se convertirá en un profesional íntegro y en un buen ser humano. Esa máxima calificación no estará solo en el expediente Miguel Ángel, sino en mi corazón de madre, que atesora el viaje completo, desde la primera clase hasta este instante glorioso de ayer, cuando fue felicitado por sus profesores.
This happiness is the certainty that, beyond grades, my boy will become a committed professional and a good human being. That highest grade will not only be in Miguel Ángel’s record but also in the heart of a mother who treasures the entire journey, from the first class to this glorious moment yesterday when he was congratulated by his teachers.
Hoy, mi hijo, el repartero (Repa), el que le gusta el reguetón y la moda, no solo domina circuitos y normas de seguridad eléctrica, sino que posee una profesión importante, útil y necesaria en cualquier parte del mundo, lo cual le da la posibilidad de un futuro estable y digno. Su título no es solo un papel, es una llave que abre puertas, la garantía de que el esfuerzo tiene su recompensa.
Today, my son, the "repartero" (Repa), who loves reggaeton and fashion, not only masters circuits and electrical safety standards but also possesses an important, useful, and necessary profession anywhere in the world. This gives him the possibility of a stable and dignified future. His degree is not just a piece of paper; it is a key that opens doors, the guarantee that effort has its reward.
