Situations & Forecast

It's midweek!

And gee, the gloomy and wet weather just can't leave us yet. Our mountainside terrains are loosening and eroding due to almost 7 weeks of persistent monsoon rains and tropical cyclones (Crising, Dante, Emong). Speaking of, a section of the road barrier about 200 meters away from our driveway collapsed on Monday evening. Thankfully, light vehicles can still pass through.

Landslides, unstable slopes, and collapsed sections prompted widespread closures on major highways and local roads, disrupting the usual flow of transportation, deliveries, and mobility of people and goods between Baguio, Benguet, Mt. Province, Viscaya, and neighboring places. It has become dangerous to go anywhere until the weather improves, which may not happen soon, as more rain is forecasted on the horizon.

So, unlike in the previous years when the hubby and I were often on the road, even on stormy or rainy days, we are taking precautions and staying home for now.

We don't want to gamble with luck, so to speak. Adventure (or even errands) can wait, at least in times like these. It's better to be safe than sorry, as they say. Hoping this section along the Halsema Highway will hold on.

Meanwhile, a neighbor who had been sick for a while passed away yesterday. The Farmboy went to help in the preparation for the wake. It's part of our effort to be present in other people's lives and help in our little ways while we are here in DD.

The LilGuy and I stayed home and spent most of the day between the bedroom and our little corner (where the computer is). I was glued to the screen reading entries for the LoH prompt, engaging, and doing a wee bit of Futures trading, shaking this liquid bubbler from time to time, as it relaxes me.

Yongi, on the other hand, did what he does best - took a snooze, curled on my lap, played, ate, and slept some more. Well, at least he wasn't throwing tantrums like on Monday, when he kept scratching the wall, like a little kid who couldn't say what he wanted, lol!

Carrying him on my arms did the trick for a while, but he still complained. The hubby popped a bag of chips, which he readily ate as if it was made for him. Our funny lil happy pill :)

Anyhow, here's to a wonderful hump day and take care!

Except for the first two above, which had been acknowledged, all photos and clips are mine. 30072025/14:56ph

I can’t imagine less of how difficult it will be for the dweller’s as the weather cause lot of disruption on the road, and stop transportation. And no much rains should go on in that city’s, so that nothing like that will take place.

It happens year after year. Unfortunately, due to the terrain here, there isn't much that can be done. New access roads may be opened, but are still subject to the same problems when the rain is too much.

Oh! It can be too much to handle, so the solution is when the rain stop. I wish something was to be done about the rain, but it’s natural.

No way in hell I would go with the car over that road in the picture, not even walking over it

Do you have enough food to last that many weeks?

We wouldn't dare, too.

We have enough, thankfully. The next town is accessible, and I believe supplies will not run out soon.

Take care. Health and survival are important. Many regions are experiencing natural disasters this month.

Glad you’re safe. I can tell the stretch of Halsema was no joke in weather like this. I've been avoiding travel too, a bit risky this season. I'm hoping for clearer skies soon and fewer road incidents. Stay safe out there deary

It's indeed better to play it safe than be sorry! You can view it as something temporary and learn it as another way to develop patience, you'll outlive the situation and hopefully get outside again to do the things you enjoy doing :)

Wow this is indeed serious rain look how it divided the road, thank goodness no car got involved in that. Oh sorry for the death of your neighbor, you did well by sending your farm boy to be of help to them. My regards to LilGuy and Yongi 🥰

Yes, thankfully, no one was hurt when that section of the road collapsed. Thank you for your kind wishes and regards. LilGuy (Yongi) is under the weather, so he's in a bad mood now, lol!

This is the worst typhoon that I witnessed throughout my life. The winds just came out briefly but it left too many destruction on its path. Until now, our electrical power is down and only Globe has signal and has weak data.

Sorry to hear, hope ma restore na yung kuryente nyo. So far, hindi kami nawalan ng ilaw so nagpapasalamat kami. Pero sa ibang places, dami pa aayusin.

Hopefully tomorrow there will be a quicker progress because they held a Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis Report recently at the office of the governor.

That's good to hear. It's tough to be without electricity.

Indeed. We have to fetch water from our neighbor's jetmatic pump because we are using an electric centrifugal pump. Also it's hard to pack up my things going to work. Need more patient to cope up with these inconveniences. 😉❤️🫰

Yes, we just have to remember such are temporary inconveniences so have a bit more patience :)

You're right. Maybe in a day or two, everything will be back to normal as power concessioners from Tarlac (TEI), Pangasinan (DECORP)and Ilocos Sur (ISECO) joined hands to help restore the electricity. With those three concessioners present, that means that the typhoon left severe damages.

It seems the situation is quite serious and risky there. So, don't go outside and stay home safely.
Sorry to hear the lose of your neighbor. Life is like that and we need to accept it.

Yes, in the provincial capital, some people have gone missing due to landslides. Hoping the weather improves soon. And you're right, death is part of life, and we can't do anything when it comes.
