Preparar el espacio de trabajo / Prepare the workspace

Antes de empezar, asegurate de tener una superficie amplia, limpia y bien iluminada. Si podés, usá una mesa firme o una plancha de corte. Tener todo en orden te evita errores y te da comodidad al marcar la tela. Un consejo que nunca falla: mantené tus herramientas a mano (tijeras, alfileres, lápiz o tiza para tela, cinta métrica y tus moldes ya listos).	Before starting, make sure you have a large, clean, and well-lit surface. If possible, use a sturdy table or cutting mat. Having everything organized helps avoid mistakes and makes marking easier. A reliable tip: keep your tools close by (scissors, pins, fabric chalk, measuring tape, and your ready patterns).

Colocar y alinear la tela / Position and align the fabric

Extendé la tela sobre la mesa con el derecho hacia adentro (es decir, los lados visibles enfrentados). Luego, fijate el sentido del hilo de la tela. Generalmente, el molde trae una flecha que indica la dirección del hilo. Alinear bien esta parte es clave para que la prenda no se deforme. Tip: podés usar pesitas o alfileres para mantener la tela estirada sin que se mueva.	Lay the fabric on the table with the right sides facing each other. Then check the grain direction — most patterns have an arrow showing it. Aligning this correctly is key to prevent distortion. Tip: use weights or pins to keep the fabric stretched and stable.

Posicionar los moldes / Place the patterns

Colocá cada molde sobre la tela, siguiendo el sentido del hilo y aprovechando al máximo el espacio. Si el molde indica que se corta “al doblez”, ubicá ese borde justo sobre el pliegue de la tela sin dejar espacio. Fijalos con alfileres o pesitas, y asegurate de no superponerlos.	Place each pattern piece on the fabric, following the grain and maximizing the space. If the pattern says “cut on fold,” align that edge exactly along the fabric fold. Secure them with pins or weights, making sure they don’t overlap.

Marcar los contornos / Trace the outlines

Usá una tiza de sastre o lápiz especial para marcar el contorno del molde. Si vas a dejar margen de costura (que te recomiendo siempre), dibujá una segunda línea paralela al borde del molde, de unos 1 a 1,5 cm. Dato útil: marcá piquetes o pequeñas señales en los puntos clave, como pinzas o uniones de piezas.	Use tailor’s chalk or a special fabric pencil to trace the outline. If you plan to leave a seam allowance (which I strongly recommend), draw a second line about 1 to 1.5 cm away. Helpful tip: mark notches or small guides in key points like darts or joining edges.

Cortar con precisión / Cut with precision

Retirá los alfileres y sujetá firmemente la tela antes de cortar. Usá tijeras de costura bien afiladas y seguí la línea del margen de costura, no la del molde. No cortes de más ni tires de la tela, así evitás que se desplace o se deforme.	Remove the pins and hold the fabric firmly before cutting. Use sharp sewing scissors and follow the seam allowance line, not the edge of the pattern. Don’t pull or overstretch the fabric to avoid shifting.

Etiquetar y guardar / Label and store

Cuando tengas todas las piezas cortadas, etiquetalas con una cinta adhesiva o alfiler con papel para recordar qué parte es cada una. Guardá los moldes en una carpeta o sobre separados por prenda, así no se pierden y podés reutilizarlos más adelante.	Once you’ve cut all the pieces, label them with tape or pinned notes so you remember which is which. Store your patterns in a folder or envelope by garment type so you can reuse them later.
