It's Been A Little Bit Hectic Around Here...

Apologies for the delay in posting, fellow Hiveans - there is good reason though...Probate has been granted, keys exchanged and just like that - we have new neighbours!

In the past seven days since the keys were exchanged, scaffolding has gone up, the fireplace has been ripped out - along with the kitchen - and a skip is on its way to start with the clean up:

Yup, these guys mean business 😁

It's not all been plain sailing though...Their estate agent promised them that the entire cottage would be empty - and by that it meant no kitchen, no furniture of any kind - so when they came up last Tuesday, they weren't happy that they had to start ripping out kitchen cabinets and moving fridges, etc. Good thing they had hired a skip...

This is where it got a little tricky though, as a catalogue of errors ended up with us having no power, and waiting on an emergency visit from the power supply outage team from Manchester. Our new neighbour got a wee bit frustrated when their skip didn't arrive as planned, and went up on the roof to start taking off the gutters.
Problem 1 - he used an angle grinder to cut the gutters off
Problem 2 - he didn't check to see if there were any power cables behind said gutters before he went a-cutting.
Problem 3 - a very loud bang and an almost dead neighbour...

As you can see from this one, he managed to completely sever our power line!

Thank goodness he wasn't badly hurt - just battered and bruised from the sheer force of the bang that very nearly threw him off the scaffolding. Although we had to wait for what felt like a realllllly long time, the team got our cable fixed and our power back on just before midnight. A huge thank you to all of them, as seriously, these guys are legends!

So it continues - massive disruption next door, and even though they are moving at a pace, it's still going to take a while - and we've only just gotten our heads round the fact that the garage fell down! Yup, the place where we store cars, and where we film ALL of our car reviews for our channel - gone!
Oh yes, it's all go-go-go around here - but that's another story.

Thank you all, and enjoy!
Annabelle 😊

Wow, that's some drama. Power tools always have risks. I once cut through a cable I thought was off and it made a bang, but I was unharmed. The cutters lost a chunk.

I'm waiting to hear what happened to the garage. I hope no cars were harmed.

Glad you made it out in one piece, @steevc - it's frightening how much scope for damage there is with electricals....

I'm putting together a longer piece about the garage, and we were lucky, no cats, cars or humans were harmed!
