Shapes of Identity: Embracing the Triangle and Circle Within.

I used to think of shapes solely as geometric figures, but delving into graphic design has revealed the intriguing concept of the psychology of shapes. Each brand logo or mascot design is a deliberate attempt to communicate a message and stir emotions in the audience.

Shapes are all around us, subtly impacting our consciousness and behavior. Although we might not always consciously register the various figures surrounding us, they hold considerable influence. Out of curiosity, I engaged in a psychological test to identify my corresponding shape, and the outcome indicated I am a triangle after responding to a series of questions.

While I consider myself a triangle, I also acknowledge a combination of both triangle and circle traits in me. A circle, to me, signifies wholeness without a clear start or end. Running around a circle seems eternal, lacking a definitive finish point. This may be why celestial bodies often take on circular forms.

Why do I believe I am a circle?

The circle embodies a feminine curve, reflecting the natural roundness found in women. As a woman, I see myself as a circle—warm and nurturing, with the inherent qualities needed to care for children and a spouse. The circle serves as a protective cover, seamlessly integrating and enveloping everything within it. This resemblance to a mother hen sheltering her chicks under her wings, safeguarding them from potential harm, resonates with my instinct to be fiercely protective. My siblings even used to affectionately dub me "Mother Hen" due to my constant concern and check-ins to ensure their well-being.

Circular objects like the sun and moon, essential for our survival on Earth, play distinct roles. The sun's light fosters plant growth, sustaining life, while the moon provides a comforting nighttime glow, akin to a reliable friend. Personally, I strive to embody that steadfast presence for my friends, consistently offering support within my capabilities, even if some needs exceed my abilities.

Similar to the dependable nature of the sun and moon, loyalty is a core aspect of my character. I consider myself a reliable and trustworthy individual, always there when needed. Drawing a perfect circle requires diligence, a quality I bring to my hardworking and organized approach. I excel at establishing structures and rules that serve as guides for achieving my goals, embodying a determined, go-getter mindset. Setting deadlines is a sure way to evoke my commitment and assurance of timely delivery. I thrive on maintaining control, being meticulous, and paying close attention to details in all situations.

Why do I also think I am a triangle?

The triangle, characterized by its three sides, holds unique symbolism. When the third side points upward, it signifies strength and authority—attributes that resonate with me strongly. While my authoritative nature has been noted by my husband, who suggests moderation, I acknowledge that I can also become unstable and unbalanced, like when the triangle tip points downward. In such states, handling situations can be challenging, and I may struggle to find the right approach.

The triangle, with its three sides, often symbolizes the Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This spiritual representation resonates with me deeply, as I consider myself a very spiritual person. While I may not be overly religious, I am dedicated to practicing spirituality in a consistent manner.

The stability of a triangle, grounded on its two sides, reflects my approach at work—steadfast and concentrated. I emphasize order and logic, qualities that extend to my role as a WhatsApp admin for several groups. One particular group relies on a weekly working list, a responsibility I fulfill diligently. Even during periods when I was hospitalized, I ensured the list was ready for the upcoming week. Many view me as the backbone of the group due to my substantial contributions, which foster its growth and continuity.

In my relationships, I'm highly committed and known for my straightforwardness and emotional transparency. I'm reliable, and I find that reflection of trustworthiness in the reason why triangles are used as road signs and compasses.

How about you?

You are right. I believe it is only people who are dubious in their ways that will not appreciate straightforward people.

This is beautiful. I love how you shared your personalities using the shapes; circle and triangle as your point of reference. With how you have described yourself, you are truly a mother hen. Not only that, you are a strong and dependable woman with how I have known you for a long while now. Your dedication and commitment to groups you join are topnotch 👌

I need to go and find out about mine too. Thanks for sharing.

Emotional transparent and straightforward people are very easy to deal with because they come out clean to you as it is. I like how you describe yourself with these shapes. You're truly a graphic designer, the way you read meaning into the shapes, bringing them to life, and using yourself as a perfect description.
