The beautiful rice fields of Jatiluwih Bali refresh the eyes that look at them

Bali is famous for its beautiful beaches. Apart from that, Bali is also famous for its charming rice fields. One of them is the expanse of rice fields in the Jatiluwih area. In Jatiluwih, the rice fields are still maintained and sustainable because they are supported by local wisdom, especially the Subak culture.

Distance from Tabanan, around 28 km. The air in Jatiluwih is quite cool because it is located in a mountainous area with an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. In Jatiluwih, we can enjoy the beautiful views of rice fields that stretch from the foot of the mountains to the coast.

As a tourist attraction, Jatiluwih provides public facilities, such as parking areas, toilets, rest areas in the form of bale and wantilan, as well as restaurants. Jatiluwih is Balinese. Jati means truly and luwih means primal, good, and beautiful. Jatiluwih means true beauty. UNESCO has designated the Jatiluwih site as a World Heritage Site on July 26 2012. This world institution has assessed that the Jatiluwih community has been able to maintain local cultural heritage in the form of a traditionally managed water irrigation system or known as "subak".

Jatiluwih is also famous for its environmentally friendly organic farming system. The rice grown here is local rice which is different from the rice grown in other areas in Bali. Rice in Jatiluwih is higher than other rice. Apart from natural potential, Jatiluwih also holds cultural potential, especially the history of the existence of Petali Temple. This temple is related to the power of Ida Dalem Waturenggong Raja in one of the kingdoms in Bali, namely the Gelgel Palace (1460-1552).

Apart from its beautiful rice fields, Jatiluwih also has the attraction of a unique religious ceremony, namely the Patirtaan ceremony at Petali Temple, every Wednesday Kliwon Ugu (based on the Balinese calendar). Local residents believe that Petali Temple is the center of worship of Hyang Widhi Wasa (God) as an agricultural power. Apart from Petali Temple, there is also Pucak Rsi Temple which is also located in this area.

If you want to enjoy the beautiful scenery in Jatiluwih, the best time is between February and April. At that time, the rice plants had grown tall and were green or the rice was even starting to turn yellow. It's best if you choose a time from around 08:00 to the afternoon, around 17:00, because at that time we can directly meet farmers who are working in the fields.
