Why All The Tribal Hatred?

Every time my parents speak against a particular tribe it makes me so pissed to the point that I always ask myself why.
I hate stereotyping, I hate it when one displays such hatred or dislike for a particular tribe or people without having any personal encounter or concrete reasons for their hatred.
I mean why do we display such hatred for a particular tribe just because of what we've been told about them?
I always say that no tribe is better off, every tribe, locality, community, state, and even country has bad people, and sometimes even worse.
But hating a particular community or tribe not just for who they are as a person but because they were fortunate or unfortunate to be born into that tribe.
I wouldn't love to even address it as a misfortune because nobody's birth is or should be considered a mistake or no tribe should be seen as a misfortune or bad luck.

And it baffles me when they make comments like be careful which tribe you choose your partner from, don't do this, don't do that.
Most times I talk back and let them know that they shouldn't feed me with all of those, wherever I decide to or God directs my step in choosing a partner shouldn't be something they should begin to worry about the tribe.
I should be able to live up to my choice of a partner and tribe should not come in the way of whatever we have together or would have together.
I am always so against the stereotype thing and it's surprising because it's not as if I have ever experienced anything with anyone outside my tribe or a little far away before so where is all the rebellious character I am always putting up coming from?
Or is it that I just feel within me that I might end up with someone outside my tribe? Or it's just a genuine dislike for talking down or speaking ill of other people's tribes.
I don't know what it is that spark this attitude but I like it because I am against every evil spoken about other people's tribe, community, locality, state, etc, especially if it comes to generalizing and judging the people based on where they come from rather than who they are as a person.

How about you guys? What do you think about dislike for a particular tribe, community, or locality?

This stand is something you should be proud of for the rest of your life. This is a blessed opinion. There are good and bad people everywhere. Yes, noone should be singled out because of their tribe. And talking about marriage, its not a tribal thing. Which tribe does not have broken marriages? I prefer to treat people based on personal interactions and not based on popular misconceptions. We just have the human race. Thats how i see it. Nothing else

Exactly...There is absolutely no tribe that doesn't have both the good and bad so no one's misconception can move me
I am glad to read your view too, thanks for stopping by!

So,
I had to search for her name to come check if she's alive because I've not seen her for a while (is that 'missing'?🙂)...and also, it's because I haven't been active for a while.

Oh! She's alive🙈

We mind our ow businesses, not that of others. We don't have tribes in my country and judge people individually for what they are, what they do.

Oh that's so good to hear.
It's a different case here in my country.
I wish we could adopt such a mindset and lifestyle.

You are the new generation that will hopefully put an end to the tribalism 🙏

Oh so this is a concern in other places too? Damn.

I come from a family that passes judgement on other tribes like your parents do, so I understand you. I do agree though that no one should be judged on the basis of a stereotype of their tribe. People shouldn’t be judged because they come from Tribe X or Y because like you said, they were born into the tribe not of their choosing.

I think people need to take a chill pill with the hate towards inter-tribal marriages. The problem is usually with the older generations, as they’re more stuck to the old systems of “marry within your tribe”. I see inter-tribal marriages as absolutely beautiful because two people despite language barriers (and other differences) understand and accept each other enough to create love.

Oh well, you really can relate

Yeah, people especially the elderly ones need to die the old belief and misconceptions and allow for peaceful inter-tribal co-existence. For goodness sake we are all humans breathing the same air🤦🏼‍♀️

That is indeed something that is annoying. I think that it’s an artifact of the generations past where they were very segregated and people fought each other quite often, and those fighting lines were based on things like tribes. I think what your parents were exposed to are passed down oral traditions and experiences from your great grandparents where these things likely were an issue. The important part is that as the upcoming generation, we stop that nonsense with ourselves. The only way we can remove those unfortunate ideas is to expose them for how silly they are and don’t push the same crap forward when we have kids.

I guess some of these things you've stated could be the reasons.

Yeah sure, I pray our generation doesn't make the mistake of pushing it onto our kids too

I couldn't agree more with your comments. Ethnic, religious, gender and political differences are all to be celebrated not used as a way of controlling people.
