Weekend Experiences - All Hail Summer Weekends!

I am FINALLY on time for #WeekendExperiences by @galenkp as I so often miss the deadline because I am still enjoying the weekend. This week's post can be found at https://hive.blog/hive-168869/@galenkp/weekend-engagement-topics-week-267 I also love #SublimeSunday (inspired by @c0ff33a) and #BeautifulSunday (initiated by @ace108) with no time limits and are equally as fun to follow.
This weekend about enjoying some downtime around town between camping adventures!

First things first! The Prompt!
Tell us about someone you love (who is not your parents, children or a religious figure) and why you love them.
You know, I love a lot of people. I love people. I don't love all people but I respect their journey and let them walk their path. Parents and children have a love that is automatic and folks of faith love unconditionally so it makes sense to exclude them.
I love my wife and my little dog. That is for sure. She has put up with my shit for 3 decades and still wants to have fun and live life. That is a rare person. That is her dog but I love that little fella too. Thinking about a time where they are not with me is tougher than thinking about not being around myself. So, I spend as little time thinking about that as possible and enjoy the gift my life is for having them along with me..

Business & Pleasure
Weekends are either for out of town adventure so you don't have to take vacation days, or relaxing close to home and enjoying what your surroundings have to offer. Here, I am mixing a little business with pleasure. Meaning, I am visiting a client to take some pictures for social media and enjoying the sights while I am here. www.revival.house is such a lovely place and the terrace in the summer time is some kind of special.

Jiu Jitsu!
About the perfect weekend starter for me, if you don't count Friday night, is a couple hours training brazilian jiu jitsu. I can shake off the Friday hangover, sleep in a little and still make it to the mats to exercise and hone my skills. My skills are not that great as of late as I am not training as much as I would like in the summer. So, Saturday sessions are extra special as I bend my schedule to train more...even in the summer.

Patio Time with Friends
It seems I am again underneath an umbrella enjoying local hospitality. This time, it is with a bunch of my training partners in the aforementioned BJJ training. A neat outdoor beer garden with picnic tables, beer and snacks is a great way to follow up some martial arts.
What health food did I opt in for? A little Mexican poutine which was made up of a little jalapenos, cheese sauce over fries. Good thing I had already worked off the calories!

More Pleasurable Business?
It doesn't seem like business when your clients are your friends and their business is cannabis! We had a little visit to an event put on by the local Little Leaf dispensary @davedickeyyall might enjoy as much as I did. It is a very competitive industry up here with zero regulation on how close a competitor can open up so these special collaborative events are a great way to stand above the competition. THC included!

Flying Dogs

It wouldn't be a proper weekend if I didn't get my little guy to Dog Wars. I guess this is my wife's dog really but I am the one who spends an hour a day with him at the park letting him run and hunt and play with the other dogs. Plenty of clover in the fields on a nicely warm day after an overnight thunder shower. He doesn't even care about the weather and I just try to capture him in full flight.

Gardening!
Weekends are for a little time in the yard catching up on all the little things you put off during the week. I had a little mowing, weeding, transplanting and trimming to do in the garden. I have a few jalapenos and tomatoes starting to become ready and the Spring Squash is about to be in season.
Here is what the garden looks like at the end of the weekend. Plenty of green growth when you look at it from afar. This reminds me I keep taking pictures of all the little wonders this year, and don't seem to get around to posting another #HiveGarden update. This week I swear as I am overdue, garden season is not that long up here, and we are starting to eat and share the fresh produce!

The sun has set on another nice summer weekend. The ones we can only dream of when we are in the coldest months of winter. This summer has been a gift so far with few mosquitos so far, plenty of sun and rain and heat for the garden, and plenty of adventure on tap for the second half! Thanks you for joining me on another weekend adventure.

It’s not been quite that long for me (second marriage for both of us) but yeah, I’m so glad she puts up with me. And laughs about it.
Laughing has to be the secret.
Speaking of laughing, if you are a golfer, this might make sense. What do second drives and second wives have in common? They look better and go further.
Our garden is insane. Shit is growing everywhere.. we're gonna have more tomatoes than 3 families can eat
Same here.
All that mess in the red circle is tomato plants. Man I love late summer sandwiches with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers!
I'll have to snap a pic next time. Those plants went WILD.. like a 19 year old girl on Spring Break..
That's absolutely amazing. All these things and activities are really very interesting and might be great at doing on weekends.
Have a good day!
Even more fun when you can share it with Hive friends

Wow. Nice long day of fun. I hope those Jiu Jitsu training didn’t result in body ache. Actually, i do like feeling body ache in the morning after the activity. It tells me I'm happy I'm still alive.
I like to tell myself that pain is just weakness leaving the body and stiffness the next day is just a positive reminder of the work I have already put in!
It seems training martial arts for over a decade, especially one with full sparring, you get good at taking care to prevent injuries. Afterall, I have no aspirations to become an MMA fighter or do anything more extreme than fighting in tournaments. BUT, over 10 years older than when I started, I am fighting the clock.
So, the ache is a good one and all the benefits that come with being active and learning a real life skill far outweigh the aches.
That's why I decided to take on taichi in 2010 because I thought it's something I can do longer. So longer return on investment.
