#ThoughtfulDailyPost - The Offensive, Wise and Foolish

It seems like another serial weekly post slides to monthly in this edition of #thoughtfuldailypost. @Wesphilbin waves the @thoughtfulposts flag for us as the curation account that rewards them thoughtful posts. Please consider delegating if you are the thoughtful type and want to encourage people to share their positivity.
Thus, we have a couple quotes from a couple philosophers from centuries ago that made me pause, ponder, and discuss for #thoughtfuldailypost. Paired with thoughtfully-curated music to match the sentiment!
Today, we balance truth/offence and wise/foolish.

Offend

I thought Thomas Paine would be younger than 286 years old if he were still alive but apparently this American Founding Father had it right back in the 1700s.
There seems to be as much offence taken from the truth these days as there are ways to deny it. So, if we went back to the good old days where the truth was not so subjective as it seems to be today, some realities are harsh. This one reminds me of "Nice guys finish last" which is a quote that has pissed me off for decades.
I have been described by one of my little ones as "having the skill of telling someone they might need to hear whether or not they are prepared to hear it." If I drop conversation that I believe is a truth or worth consideration, it is probably because I care about the person enough to share my perspective in case it can help or I am playing devil's advocate in order to become involved in the solution to an issue. Either that or it is a test of someone to discover whether it is worthwhile to try.
All who offend are not necessarily being honest but let us risk offence while speaking our truths.
The only song I can think of that matches this one is the buttery vocals and smooth piano writing of the immortal Billy Joel.

The Wise and the Foolish

If the first part of your name is literally "Epic" then you have my attention. Turns out Epictetus is another 1100 years or so older than the last guy and it blows my mind to think of how wise one would be to be quoted a century after being gone.
Kids these days, or any days for that matter, don't seem to get the first part. I don't blame young people for being fools because I was one then too of a considerable degree. That and the brain really doesn't finish developing until the mid 20s but lets stay on track!
It may be because of my dungeons & dragons nerdy background but I believe in the different between intelligence and wisdom. Even fools can become wise by surviving long enough to learn lessons and develop wisdom. Some very intelligent people outsmart themselves, fail to learn from their mistakes and never become wise. Sidetracked again!
How great is the advice to avoid quarreling with the wise and ignore the fools? It may seem inevitable to avoid either but probably worth putting into practice.
How about THE quintessential classic rock pioneers with a little Fool in the Rain?

I hope we can progress through suffering to a success that brings purity of heart and celebration of right now. If being thoughtful is up your alley, you have the option to delegate to @thoughfulposts to increase the rewards for positivity.
https://hive.blog/introduceyourself/@thoughtfulposts/thoughtfulposts-introduction-or-a-thoughtfuldailypost is the post that started it all way back in 2020!
I invite you to pen your own #thoughtfuldailypost any day of the week and share your insight on the world through your blog.

Gradually over time the "wise" has learned to twist the truth in order to suit themselves. Nowadays we can say that the truth has been buried.

Yes, true. But it is not allowed to rest in peace - I would say, the truth is dug up 12 times per day, being raped and buried again - on a usual basis...
There exist a great song by Russian Bob Dylan - named 'The Truth and the Lie'. I'd love to share it with you, but afraid there is no EN translation, at least I am not aware of a one...
Tyranny is definitely alive and well and on full display at the moment. Goes against the sentiment of not quarreling with the wise but I believe we must in this case.
That is so well said, and it beats my comment on the topic.
Are you talking about Boris Grebenshikov?

Nope, actually about this one

theres a morale in it (one among others) - that Truth may triumph, take over in the long future time - but only after it start performing as dirty and nasty tricks, as the Lie.
Now this sounds like real wisdom to me.
Cool that you are in the know of Boris Grebentshikov, btw 😄
Mrs. Google told me about him. !LOL

I suppose wisdom and virtue are not always synonymous. But, I will not be a cynic and seek out the wise who are also the righteous and not let the manipulative truth twisters get me down.
I like your reply, and someone said that the mind is a garden. It all depends on what one plants in it, is it life giving plants, or choking weeds. Righteousness is also rare to find these days, and knowledge masquerades as wisdom.
Such is life.

.Oh, this came back on me so many times and it wasn't appreciated at all... BUT... It was appreciated a few times, which is a low percentage that means something! Don't want to be a pessimist here (an optimist with experience 😃), but it is always those 5-10% of people who... succeed in life... understand others... care... think... should be our focus... As I needed a lot of time to learn that lesson, recently been trying to focus on those 5% of people only, as they can help me, and I can help them!
Speaking of offensive and foolish, I have 2 things to share... Maybe I already did the first one, but it's a good share...
And regarding foolish... I got a meme from a friend 2-3 days ago that says something like this:
Thanks for the songs! Great choice!!

How sober and articulate is Rowan Atkinson? Listened to the whole thing.
Like in marketing, if you are pulling the prospects from a huge pool, even a low percentage of sales can be all you need if it is enough to sustain business growth. Same goes by offending a larger number on the way to finding the constructive and positive connections.

I haven't posted this on Twitter yet, but in the future I'll try to post it based on what the community has said and post it here. I hope I can do something soon.
You sure do put a lot of work into your posts...
And here I thought wisdom was not eating the yellow snow..
Doh!
Oh it is by my definition. Lessons learned through mistakes or taking good advice. Though that might be intelligence if you knew right away yellow snow was not to be eaten and didn't have to mistake your way to that knowledge.
Hey bud, I wanted to support ur recent few posts and my vote is drained at moment so here’s a bonus tip! Cheers!
