#ThoughtfulDailyPost - Emotional Maturity Defines You
It is that time of week again where we take the bait my algorithm has presented me with and get preachy for #ThoughtfulDailyPost. @Wesphilbin waves the flag for us and runs @thoughtfulposts as the curation account that rewards thoughtful posts. Please join us in sharing your positive vibes on the blockchain and consider delegating.
Here is some mature definition to screw with your brain!
Emotional Maturity
Helen Marie is a registered integrative therapist and clinical trauma practitioner so I would wager she has seen some wildly varied levels of emotional maturity.
When I saw the title and saw 10 different bullet points, I almost just kept on scrolling. Ah might as well give the first one a look. "Not engaging in conversations with people who are committed to misunderstanding you"? This didn't make much sense to me as I usually avoid speaking too much with people who can't benefit from a conversation with me and enjoys playing stupid games. "disengaging with other people's drama." So true and a very good skill to have. Maybe I should read on. You don't need me walking you through everything I think. Scan the next 8 of them and I will meet you in the next paragraph.
I can imagine the Zen of arriving at the end of the list and being right there. As much merit as there is in each of them, all I can only think about the shenanigans and mischief that would never happen if we took that for gospel. Perhaps I will never be fully emotionally mature.
I am more of a Beatles guys than a 'Stones guy but perhaps some of us need an Emotional Rescue.
What Defines You?
This image has made its way around centralized social media with Keanu Reaves as the face of it but the buck stops here on decentralized media where you can be penalized for spreading bullshit. I do love Keanu for his unlikely success despite the shallow acting chops and how human he appears to be still despite the blinding exposure of fame and fortune. Still, superfluous sleuthing has lead me to George Bernard Shaw as the most probably origin.
Such a heavy statement for a business owner. When you start a business, it almost never develops as you initially envisioned. Being able to ride the ups & downs, and knowing that the results of your actions often happen after a delay surely shows you the value of patience over time. Patience may define you but it also has plenty to do with the success which should not totally define you.
When you achieve that success, how much emotional intelligence would you have to possess to not have it negatively impact your attitude? I often repeat the mantra of "you win or you learn." It softens the blow of failing but it also should keep you humble in victory. Many time in small business consulting, I have witnessed entrepreneurs becoming business owners. Sometimes for the best as they build something larger than themselves. Others not so good as they lose the edge of competitive creativity, innovation in the face of necessity, and taking responsibility for the results of their actions. If maintaining that attitude can define character and keep you agile in business, sounds like something to constantly work on!
So very loosely related, the first Keannu Reaves movie I ever saw was Bill & Ted series. This is an awesome song by Extreme that appears on the soundtrack and in the movie where the historic figures discover a shopping mall! You are welcome!
I would encourage you to join this movement as the world needs your wisdom and the blockchain is a place to share it. If you completely agree, you have the option to delegate to @thoughfulposts to increase the rewards for positivity.

Keanu is a good example of being humble and humane is worth it and there is no need to be nosy and egoistic. I would add Jim Carrey to that list also. Some of his talks absolutely amazing about fame and money. 🤔
Determination and discipline, most of the time, brings success with them. We usually need time to invest. These days I see so many people not having enough discipline to continue hard days.
We all want an easy win. 😄
Great post. I loved reading it, thank you for sharing maybe I will post one myself soon, now i will check the community 🤗🙏
Thanks for reading a long and sharing your thoughts!
I think Keanu and Jim Carrey have a common Canadian background. Might have something to do with their humbleness. ;)
I am worried about the entitlement I am seeing with no consequences for lack of effort and flattened rewards for good effort. Leads to lack of motivation but also leaves the motivated in rarer company.
Great discussion though.
A lot of people you might not know their true attitude untill you come across them when they have in abundance and vice versa. Depending on the view they are coming from
Emotional mentality also has to do with you knowing your limits
I love this write up!
I agree that we should all strive to be more emotionally mature. It's a journey, not a destination, but it's one that's worth taking. Emotional maturity allows us to build better relationships, make better decisions, and live happier lives.
I also agree that we shouldn't let success define us. It's important to stay humble and to remember that there's always more to learn. Success is fleeting, but character is forever.
Yes indeed. It may have been last week but I remember discussing how hard it is to be honest with ourselves and that is a journey too.
Character is forever and constantly building if you are doing it right!

@zekepickleman...
I woke up today!! Don't think for a moment, that I have forgotten about the awesomesauce you spread. I have been dealing with a rather nasty MS flare-up (brought on by a great deal of stress...) so I have not been as active as I would like, But seeing the content you share with us, always brings a smile to my face... thank you!!

It's the same, I would like to say here that the way we see the world, we see all the things and from this song we learn a lot that we should live a good life with love people. Must live with love.
