I am all about the music, having listened and played for decades. I usually post #thoughtfuldailypost (@Wesphilbin waves the @thoughtfulposts flag) on Thursdays and have incorporated music for quite a while. So, why not switch it up and join the fun on #threetunetuesday as well?

To set the tone, I present a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne whose guard is over as of today. Crushing riffs, driving beat, a young Ozzy and some heavy lyrics.

Today, we are considering information in context with ignorance, and hopefully not playing the victim.

Information, Opinion, Ignorance and Stupidity

The Captain, who goes by @sgrstk on the dumpster fire known as X, is apparently known in meat space as Kyle Creek Listed as a "Writer. Creator. Instigator." who doesn't mind being quoted. Well, here is your 15 minutes of #hive fame!

I was hooked from the first line that proclaims a fact is information minus emotion. Made me pause to consider separation of info and emotion. Made for some clarity it current times with information loaded with emotion being passed off as fact by certain politicians.

Opinion is info + experience. Such a simple truth.

So many opinions freely available from so many people these days and some of it pretty ignorant. It is the information that is missing!

What a great punch to end this combination right. Stupidity is an opinion that ignores a fact. Man that is good. When facts can suddenly become "fake news," opinions can certainly amplify stupidity!

Seems a good time for some Genesis as all this Information, Opinion, Ignorance and Stupidity make Land of Confusion pretty relevant today! This was such a great song back in the day and the video was ground breaking with those puppets!

Victim Mentality

I have spent plenty of time contemplating the victim mentality. Mainly because I can think of times I considered myself and underdog, a victim. Often the victim of some shortcoming, stroke of bad luck, softening up the loss by believing the deck was stacked against me. Now, to refer to a victim mentality as an ingenious cloak of self betrayal seems a little harsh! Not necessarily in internal dialogue because I can take it, but in discussing with others.

I see people I believe are holding themselves back because of a victim mentality. I am no life coach so I could have it completely wrong. Sabotaging themselves believing their trauma disqualifies them from winning. Either that or seeing the help/attention people get when they are real victims and wanting that for themselves. Or possibly both.

As someone born close to the end of the year, younger and smaller by up to almost a year than the others my age and identifying as an underdog, I have a taste of believing I am a victim. Happens to all of us I am sure but I have found shaking that off, giving my best, and being determined to turn aside insecurity in favour of striving anyhow produced much better results. To win my lot instead of having it gifted to me as a consolation prize seems the only path.

So what of those with a persisting victim mentality? J. Mike is hurling some hard balls with this one but what if victim mentality stunts character growth, writing a never ending story of personal hell? Dammit that is cold but rings so true for me!

And now for one of the most epic heavy metal songs from the formative years. Judas Priest also still relevant today as they are still currently touring and hopefully playing an 8-minute version of Victim of Changes.
