#Beersaturday - Left Field, Kingpin, and Hat Day!

 "Zekes Hops.png"

I enjoy living in the land of too many craft IPAs with their wild and woolly brands. You are invited to leave a huge upvote and join our friend @detlev to create your own #beersaturday post with the gang! So glad to have found a home with beer drinkers across the world on my favourite blockchain.

For week 430, I am enjoying beers with the boys whether the event is hockey, comics or just another IPA session.

The pint of the week is generally out on the town or in a social setting with friends. Look at this romantic looking couple of beers hinting at a private date! In actuality, it was at a pub in the big city after a hockey game with the guys. Not much better than a brew after a win with buds and a little Left Field Brewery on tap makes it even better!

King Pin

I think maybe I have featured a Calabogie Brewing beer maybe once over my long years as Hive's Blockchain Beerologist. It is a lesser known brewery from a small town I know back from the first time I ever went skiing! That was many moons ago so I was an easy sell when I saw this interesting beer a friend brought home from a comiccon.

I didn't take a very good pic of the back of this King Pin Brut Ale so here is the text from their website:
Crisp, bone-dry, and crowned with golden hops. King Pin is a Brut Ale brewed for those who run the city—not chase it. Expect sharp citrus and a champagne-like finish that hits with quiet power. Smooth, strategic, and stylish in every sip, this Brut Ale rules the night without raising its voice.

🔸 Bone-dry, clean finish
🔸 Subtle citrus & tropical hop aroma
🔸 Effervescent like a Brut Champagne
🔸 Pairs well with power plays & late-night takeovers

For those not into progressive styles like this, a Brut beer is characterized by its extremely dry finish, high carbonation, and often a light body. It typically has low residual sugars, which contributes to its crispness, and may feature fruity or floral notes from the yeast used in fermentation. This beer was all of that and specially brewed for a comic convention in the region. Pretty damn good though I don't expect to find it on the shelves again because of the very limited release.

No Not Hat Day!

IMG_6381.JPG

This is another stupid beer by Refined Fool Brewing! They always seem to have IPA variety packs I can't seem to resist like the IPA Fun Box When you are obsessed with IPAs and 6 of them comes in a single pack from a craft brewery, you end up having to share what you find to the world via your beer blog.

I have no idea what this beer has to do with hat day, why it was cancelled, or why it was a good enough idea to be the band of a beer for public consumption. The font is shit, illustration lame, and even the colours do this tasty beverage a disservice. Truth is, this is not a bad beer! A little hazy for my liking but reasonably tropical and I might buy it again solo if it was there, weighing in nice and heavy at 6.7% abv. No hat-related sadness here.

Seriously! I have to drive an hour and a half to play a game with the boys so there better be beers afterward to make it a trip!

Yes that one seems like a well thought concept where others are just imaginary days having nothing to do with the beer. Especially for the comic book fan.

Cheers, my man! You know what I think about beer can designs, and that King Pin has a great design.

Ya man! Especially since it was a 1-off brew for the Ottawa Comic-Con. A nice surprise.

Another round of interesting beers shared in good company, such variety I suppose when moving around from town to town one would start being amazed at how much is brewed.

Definitely the case. Whenever I am traveling in the region, work or play, I love to see which craft breweries there are to enjoy. Makes a special spot to visit and a new beer to sample every time.

King pin can is pretty cool... But would be interesting to know the sense of the hat day canceled? What's that?

Just jibberish from a silly brewery that brews IPAs so manicly that they run out of good names for the beer.

The cowbell looks very similar to the one from my country, so I would definitely take it. Thank you for showing it to the community.

You bet. Beer is best when shared with others!

Cowbell is a really neat brewery less than an hour down the road. I have blogged about it before on #beersaturday but am overdue for another visit.

A brut ale, huh? That sounds like quite something, gotta try it out once I come across this style :)

Yes it is neat. They brew most of the sugars out of it so it is sharp and dry which makes the hops and malts a little more pronounced. Definitely give one a go if you come across one!
