Realtalk contest wk 1: Not changed. Just exposed

Hello everyone. Its your favourite girl @zalibee welcome to my blog. Here's my piece to real talk contest. And the question says " Does money really change people or reveal their true self".

This is a deep question. But to me money doesn't change people; it reveals their true identity.

Someone ones said to me, "Character is just like smoke" you cant cover it, it will surely find it's way out. When the money is not there they will act all humble and nice but when the money finally comes they suddenly become rude. Not because they changed, but because you're no longer needed in their lives.

When someone is greedy, proud or even fake. Money will reveal who they are, because money is just like a mirror, it shows what is inside and gives the heart a loud voice.

I had a friend then, "Halimat". I'm not the type to relate with my gender quit much. But this particular lady, she was something else. I have never seen a pure soul as her's, or maybe so i thought until distance tear us apart and i was able to see through her. But we still keep in touch.

Well i got admission before her. And she got her's not so long after mine. But at different institution. Immediately she resume to her school, she changed towards me. She no longer pick my calls or reply my chats and i was worried. "Halimat will never do that to me", or so i thought. But she did. Maybe once in a while, she would reply to my chats. She kept on saying she is busy making some excuses, well i thought to myself "maybe she needs time to settle down in school". She only reach out to me when she need urgent data, airtime or urgent money for something. Well she is my friend I don't hesitate cause i know what it feels like to be a new student. So i always try to assist her which ever way i could.

I called her attention to it when i wasn't comfortable anymore with her reformed character. She always find her way to change the topic.

Until the day i decided to surprise her at her school. I was excited though cause i know she will be so surprise and happy to see me.
Well she was so happy and she welcomed me warmly. I plan to spend 2 days and during my stay i discovered i had lost my friend a long time ago. She now hang out with rich friends in school. She even play bets and drown herself in the thought of making money carelessly forgetting she is a woman. I realise pear group influence also affected her. She was mingling with the wrong set of people.

I tried talking to her but we had a very hit arguement and i left the 3rd day. She didn't call back to even apologise or explain herself to me. I summon the courage and reach out to her 2 months after but she never replied or picked my calls. I discovered she was greedy, and has choose her part. I also realised she doesn't need me anymore and i saw her for who she was.
It hurts me though, because I valued our friendship so much but I guess she wanted more.

So i strongly believe money doesn't change anyone it reveals who they are.
