Writing a way forward on a World of Kedra

It's been a few weeks of me picking up my biggest fiction project of my life, the one that I have been nursing and growing for YEARS without ever publishing any of it.

Of course, I am determined to publish it now, as well as the Mortis Custos story (Maledictus Terra series) that I do with my co-author - @lex-zaiya.

So let me share what my experience is so far:

World of Kedra contains multiple story-lines, the main series being Nations Under Siege, which is meant to be a 5 book series. I have completed the 1st draft manuscript for book 1 - Might of the Lands, which I have now read cover to cover and WOW - I enjoyed it a lot!

There are four viewpoint characters
An aspirant knight, an fantasy stylized samurai warrior, a mercenary captain and a young commoner boy who is drawn into a civil war.

A wide variety of characters. Some of them cross paths during the course of the story, others are far away from one another, giving an idea of what is in store for the story in future books!

It has gotten me very excited!

So I really want to take a crack at book 2, but before I do, there are two other tasks that I need to put work into:

1: I need to get into even further character immersion by reading my character profiles. Not all the information that I have created for a character has always been shared in their first book. This book and thus, this entire series is written POV.

What the character sees of thinks about is what you read. Thus there may be things that the character knows that is not shared. There are things that happen that the character does not see or things the character sees but does not understand. However - you, the reader will understand what the character sees, even if the character does not.

So its a bit of a CRAFT of this one and I need better and total immersion into the story!

2: Choose one of the stand alone books from World of Kedra to publish.

I have several NOVEL length stories either completed or in progress and I really want to publish one or two World of Kedra books before I start with Nations Under Siege: Might of the Lands.

The reason for this is that I want more time to work on the entire series arc and then back again to the beginning. It is quite an interwoven story and it needs to be done right.

The other reason is that I get to introduce the reader to the World of Kedra. I am a WORLD BUILDER and honestly, I have built so much world on this story, that the opportunity for awesome stories is basically limitless!

No. I do not have "world-builder's disease", building my world does not stop me from writing fiction, I have written something around 400k words of publishable fiction. But I am committed to bringing the reader a thoroughly intricate and in-depth world while presenting it with fast-paced story action and emotion-stirring characters!

I want to focus on the quality.

So... I need to decide on which stand alone or mini-series that does not affect or spoil the main series to publish first!

I am going to be doing a bit of digging first to figure out what that might be, but I will probably make a post about that and get some input from the Hive users and other writers to get an idea of what they think about it.

Of course... whatever I decide on, that will still be project number 2 as the first book to publish is Maledictus Terra: Mortis Custos!
