What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!

Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.

I should have started when 10th edition launched!
474 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #154, I am 320 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)

January 2025 we are expecting Astra Militarum and Aeldari codexes as explained Here, so time to focus on THOSE Datasheets!

Astra Militarum, Attilan Rough Riders

10th Edition Index

Attilans are cavalry units recruited from a specific world where the horsemasters are recruited and trained into Imperial Guard Regiments. In the case of Attilans in the lore, they have entire Regiments of only Cavalry!

Imperial Commanders then disperse them as they are needed.

Armed with Hunting lances and Goad Lance, they can do a lot of damage suddenly to the enemy should they be allowed to.

They are a mere 60pts for 5 models and 120pts for a 10 model unit.

A 5 man unit is $62.50.

Weapons

Ranged:

Everyone has both a Lasgun and a Laspistol.

Lasgun

24" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+. S3, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Rapid Fire 1 (When firing at a target within half range of 12", get 1 additional attack)

Laspistol

12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+. S3, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Pistol (Can be fired while in Engagement Range of the enemy)

Melee:

The Sergeant can have both a Hunting Lance and a Power Sabre. The Whole squad has Hunting Lances, which has 2x attack profiles. For every 5 models in this unit, one Attilan can exchange his Hunting Lance for a Goad Lance. All of their Horses ALSO attack!

Steed’s hooves

2 Attacks, Hitting on 4+. S4, AP 0 and 1 Damage each.
Extra Attacks (This model can use these attacks alongside its other attacks.)

Hunting Lance - Frag tip attack option

D6 Attacks, Hitting on 3+. S4, AP 0 and 1 Damage each.
Lance (on the turn this unit charges, add +1 to Wound rolls.)

Hunting Lance - Melta tip attack option

1 Attack, Hitting on 3+. S9, AP -4 and D6 Damage each.
Lance (on the turn this unit charges, add +1 to Wound rolls.)

Goad lance

2 Attacks, Hitting on 3+. S6, AP -2 and 2 Damage each.
Lance (on the turn this unit charges, add +1 to Wound rolls.)

Power sabre

4 Attacks, Hitting on 3+. S4, AP -2 and 1 Damage each.

Abilities

Horsemasters

Ignore all movement modifiers. Modifiers to Movement, Advange Rolls and Charge Rolls.
This unit can also Fall Back, then Shoot and Charge again.

Thoughts

Fall back and charge is essential to get back the charge bonuses.

Look, they are squishy, but cheap and fast. I know that there will be PLENTY of other targets that you need to deal with in an Astra Militarum army.

I should arrange a game against Johnathan De Waal if I want to see them and other units in the Astra Militarum in action!

That makes 8 Astra Militarum Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 8.98% Completed. The total Completed is 15.85% Complete! Can I review them all?!
