Venoms are transports... fast, light and carry problems...

Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - Datasheet Review post! I have recently needed to take a new direction. All the details about that is found Here - The Great 40k Review Plan

This is not just regurgitating the stats and skills. I provide my own assessment of what I think of the unit and its capabilities. Often... about how to use them best... or how to kill them best!

Hobby Fund - Working myself into the clear

Drukhari, Venom

10th Edition Index

I keep joking that a Drukhari vehicles are like flying cardboard boxes... this is the shoebox of those boxes... with knives attached to it.

It is 65pts.

Let's check its stats!

Stats

Movement 14"
Toughness 6 (Deathshroud Terminators have a higher toughness!)
Save 4+/6++(armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 6
Ld 6+
OC 1

Weapons

Weapon Loadout: Splintercannon, twin splinter rifle, bladevanes.

Options: Can exchange the Twin Splinter Rifle for a Splinter Cannon

Ranged Weapons

Twin Splinter Rifle

24" Range, 2 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S2, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Rapid Fire 1 (When firing at a target within half range of 12", get +1 Shot)
Assault (This weapon can fire even if the wielder Advances)
Twin Linked (Re-roll to Wound)
Anti-Infantry 3+ (Critical Wounds Infantry on 3+)

Splinter Cannon

36" Range, 3 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S3, AP-1 and 2 Damage each.
Sustained Hits 1 (Hit rolls of a 6 score an additional 1 hit)
Anti-Infantry 3+ (Critical Wounds Infantry on 3+)

Melee Weapons

Bladevanes

3 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S5, AP0 and 1 Damage each.

Abilities

Deepstrike - When held in reserves, it can fly in and appear within 9" of an enemy model.
Deadly Demise 1 - Roll a D6 when it is destroyed, on a 6, deal 1 Mortal Wound to every unit within 6"
Stealth - When shot at, -1 to Hit for the enemy attacks.
Firing Deck 6 - this vehicle can choose 6 ranged weapons wielded by occupants of the vehicle and it can fire as though it has those weapons.
Transport - This vehicle has a transport capacity of 6 Infantry but cannot transport Grotesques or models with Fly.
This vehicle can also be used to split a 10 man unit into two units. Either 1 in transport and 1 on foot or two into two Venoms.

Athletic Aerialists

At the end of the Fight phase, if this transport is empty and there is a Drukhari Infanty unit wholly within 6" of the vehicle, they can Embark on the transport. They cannot do this id they are Engaged in Combat (or do not qualify to get inside)

Thoughts

Honestly, there is no reason not to go double Splinter Cannons. Longer Range, more damage for killing Space Marines. That is good.

Its Stealth makes it last better.

Putting squads back into transports is just another thing that makes them fast and crafty... annoying.

When you see it, it dies. Just before you see it, it does horrendous damage to you!
