Warhammer 40k - Review Library 364 - Imperial Knights, Knight Errant

A blunt instrument! It's intentions will be broadcast and verbose.

Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - Datasheet Review post!

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit in the game of Warhammer 40,000

The last of the Indexes! A new challenge!

Right, I am finally ahead and by my best estimations as I explained in this Post, I should be able to keep ahead of the release curve and get the remainder of the Indexes reviewed before those Codex releases.

So I embark on a new challenge. I have calculated that there are roughly 148 reviews to do. I have chosen my frequency and have given myself 96 days to review them all. That means that I am aiming at Day 96 being the 21st of July 2025!

Today is Day 8/96.
I have reviewed 11/148.

Time elapsed: 8.33%
Review Completion: 7.43%
A little bit behind. Not a full 1% yet.

Hobby Fund - Working myself into the clear

With my hobby posts, I generate a hobby fund. 50% of the income goes into the fund. At the moment I put all my HBD earned from Warhammer posts into my alt account @zakl.hobbyfund.

I am collecting funds in the following ways:

  • Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
  • Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
  • Selling some of the collection to friends.

At the current count I am paying off some hobby debts. I still have $236 to pay off!

Every bit counts!

Back to the review!

Imperial Knights, Errant

10th Edition Index

A Knight much cheaper than the Crusader with its mail anti-tank gun being the same. Instead of being stationery, it gains its abilities when it is as close as possible to its intended target.

Its Bondsman abilities also ensure swift action. On top of that, it is a good 65pts cheaper than the Crusader.

They are 380pts to field.

Let's check its stats and abilities!

Stats

Movement 10"
Toughness 12
Save 3+/5++(invul against ranged only) (armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 22
Ld 6+
OC 10

This model can exchange its Reaper Chainsword for a Thunderstrike Gauntlet.

This model can exchange Meltagun for a Questoris Heavy Stubber.

This model can also be armed with one of the following:

  • Icarus autocannons
  • Ironstorm missile pod
  • Stormspear rocket pod

Ranged Weapons

Questoris Heavy Stubber

36" Range, 3 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S4, AP-1 and 1 Damage each.

Melta 2 (When this weapon is fired from half range of 6", add 2 to the damage)

24" Range, 2D3 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S12, AP-4 and D6 Damage each.
Melta 6 (When this weapon is fired from half range of 12", add 6 to the damage)
Blast (Add 1 to the attacks for every 5 enemy models in the target unit, rounding down)

48" Range, 3 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S8, AP-2 and D6 Damage each.

Ironstorm Missile Pod

48" Range, D6+1 Shots, Hitting on 3+, S5, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Blast (Add 1 to the attacks for every 5 enemy models in the target unit, rounding down)
Indirect Fire (This weapon can be fired at a target that it cannot see, if it does the enemy shall get Benefit of cover and you get a -1 to Hit and cannot get better than a 4+ to hit.)

Melee Weapons

Reaper Chainsword - Stike

4 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S14, AP-4 and 6 Damage each.

Reaper Chainsword - Sweep

12 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S9, AP-3 and 2 Damage each.

Thunderstrike Gauntlet - Stike

4 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S20, AP-3 and 8 Damage each.

Thunderstrike Gauntlet - Sweep

8 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S10, AP-2 and 3 Damage each.

Abilities

Deadly Demise D6 (When this model is destroyed, roll a dice to see if it explodes. On a 6 it does so, dealing D6 damage to every unit within 6" of this model)

Aggressive Assault

When firing at the closest enemy unit, add 1 to the Hit roll

Crusader’s Duty

Bondsman ability. Therefore this model can use this ability in the Command Phase to select one Armiger. That Armiger gets Assault on its ranged weapons for the turn. (This means that it can Advance and shoot)

Thoughts

The Errant does best when it charges in at its intended target on the battlefield. Getting in close, gives it that 2+ to hit with a Thermal Cannon. It follows up with this with one of the two iconic Imperial Knights Assault weapons.

The Reaper Chainsword is better at clearing mobs but has a decent profile against big units.

The Thunderstrike Gauntlet is better at dealing with tough units and its Sweep is more for Terminators and the like. It will struggle against the hordes.

In any case, running this guy in pell-mell to the enemy might be what you need to confuse the enemy.

That makes 6 Imperial Knight Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 54.54% Completed! The total of the remaining Index reviews is now 137.

Thank you for reading!
