Today I shall be going to @swordandboard to play in the Mayhammer Madness tournament. This is 1-day tournament is part of the 2025 Slow Grow hosted by Sword and Board.

Here is my army!

A whopping 7 models, my Toughness is high and my model count low. This army does struggle to score some of the possible objectives in the deck, but it DOES have a lot of fun and generally has been doing loads of damage to the enemy.

Braum Wolfpelf and Bjorn the Fell-Handed seem to make a lot of people target them early. Haha!

My shooting strength comes from Voraf Winterskull (Ballistus Dreadnought) and Svan the Mighty (Redemptor Dreadnought). Bjorn also packs quite a punch!

Stratagems:

This is an Ironstorm, thus my Stratagems are:

• Armor of Contempt: -1AP for one source of attacks in either shooting or fight phase.
• Ancient Fury - A Dreadnought becomes faster and tougher and has better OC
• Vengeful Animus - Auto explode on Deadly demise
• Unbowed Conviction - A unit ignores all modifiers to stats for a turn.
• Mercy Is Weakness - A unit gets Sustained Hits 1, if its a Vehicle unit then it scores a Critical on a 5+ instead of a 6+
• Power of the Machine Spirit - A Vehicle that reduces to under half Starting Strength gets to shoot back at the unit that just shot at it, as though it is the shooting phase.

I tend to use my CP for the Smoke Stratagem in my opponent's turn or Heroic Intervention. Then in my turn, my go-to is Ancient Fury but only if the +1T bumps me into a different bracket when facing various enemies. Or if the +1M or +1OC is going to be useful.

Mercy is Weakness is a 2CP strat and is difficult to become available... unless I get a Secondary Objective I cannot complete and I burn the objective for a CP at the end of my turn.

This is going to be a fun and relaxing tournament of 3 rounds. I looked at the line-up, we are 14 players in total, so there will be 7 games happening at the same time. There are also many people I have not played against before.

What are my expectations for winning? Well, this Dreadnought army is a bit rock-paper-scissors but this tournament is for newbies. I thought that it would be fair to play a B-list and not my A-list. At minimum, I should win at least 1 game with this army. That is my pessimistic guess.

My optimistic guess is that I might dodge someone who is my poison and run 3x straight victories. However... if you work it out, wit 14 players and 3 games there will be 2x players that can have 3 victories each.

The tie breaker is Victory Points and if I do not score high in those three games then I will not take the lead.

This army managed two wins at 1000pts. I have not played this list more than that.

One was against the old Death Guard Index, ended 96-23.
The other was against T'au Empire and ended 79-41.

These are not bad actually and I cannot say that these were factions that are pushovers. The Death Guard was a little under-specced to handle my Dreadnoughts but he has a lot of Lethal Hits in his army so he can damage me with anything.

Well... we shall see... let me pack my things... war calls - The Space Wolves answer!
