Sword and Board - A Hobby Shop visit!

Hello everyone! Zak here from Cape Town, South Africa!

Today myself and @merenludick visited the Sword and Board hobby store (@swordandboard) and we played some games.

Meren brought his friend along with him and they played Zombicide as far as I know.

I played two games of Warhammer 40,000. One 500pts game against Armand's Necrons which I narrowly lost.

Then I played a 1000pts game against Jonathan and his Death Guard and there I won a solid victory.

Both games were very fun!

I also saw @lex-zaiya and Nic there as well as @xenowolfza.

At least I have managed to increase the population density of Hive users in this small area and hobby interest!

From the moment that it opened, the hobby shop was busy and noisy and full of people.

All the wargaming tables were full and they actually set up an additional table when they ran out.

All the card game tables were also full of people.

This was part of my 500pts game. It did not start well and slowly, but surely I clawed my way back from a terrible position to a near draw.

@merenludick and his friend Love Divine were enjoying their game of Zombicide!

After the Necrons, it was time to fight Death Guard!

This army was a Flyblown Host that I reviewed not long ago. So I was familliar with their shennanigans.

My opponent implored to his dice many times for a favorable roll and truth be told, he made several spectacular dice rolls. However, I targeted the units that were the biggest threat to me and I judged my distances well.

It worked out in the end for me.

This was a great visit to @swordandboard's hobby shop! I really enjoyed the vibes and games.

I'd love for them to get bigger like they were before... but maybe the problem before was that they were on two levels and the lower level had no staff and only a game room.

I would like to understand your statement and I do not want to make a mistake again. 😅 By my intention, I do not think that this post contravenes any rule of the community. 🤔

I am not complaining, I am just trying to understand what your framework is. So let me define it 🤓:

I had a look at the worldmappin map and realized that there has not been a post about Sword and Board. Which is a physical place. 📍

The rules of Worldmappin states: "Content should be about permanent places that you have personally travelled to yourself and your experience."

It is a physical place that I have visited. My post was about the shop that I visited with my son and what we did there and not too much detail about the actual game. Thus that relates to my experience at that location. As far as the rules show, it cannot be because it is an indoor location. Its a place and we did stuff there. 🤔

I would think that this is the same as posting about an indoor sports facility. Like Montague Action Arena & Bounce World which you will find here: https://g.co/kgs/nPwERF2 ⚾🏏🏓

A post about that place would be a pin and pictures about that location and what a person did there right? This would be the same. Or if I travelled to a mall and said: We travelled to this mall and had Ice cream and went shopping for clothes. This is how the place looks. There are a lot of posts about that sort of thing on Worldmappin. 👀

So the above post is about visiting the location.
This post is a Battle Report. This is at that same location but this post focuses about playing the game and not the location. Which is why it is NOT a Worldmappin post. ☝️

This is the same as the other Worldmappin rule: "Worldmappin is a travel community, please post accommodation, food and restaurant reviews in other appropriate communities unless the focus of the post is not about the food from the restaurant." 🤓

So here the rule is saying: Post about the restaurant, not a food review. But it does not mean "No pictures of the food is allowed." It is just trying to keep the topic of the post about a location. 🤔

So I need some guidance here. In the future, when I post about a place that I have visited and spent some time there doing whatever, even if it is to play a boardgame, what are the parameters? Do I need to include a picture of the outside of the shop? Or do I need to explain the shop?

I hope all this explains well what I mean.

Hi @zakludick. Thanks for approaching us about this. Visiting a shop is in our opinion not a "travel experience". Same as visiting a restaurant, hotel or mall isn´t allowed in Worldmappin Community. You however pin to the map whatever you want, just not from this community. The map is there for different communities - thats why here you find different things. The community is only for travel in terms of cities, places that make this place unique - shops or malls look alike all over the world.. its not something special that you only find there.

Aha! No that actually answers the question perfectly. Thank you for getting back to me.

I will keep that in mind in the future and use the pin but not the community for this kind of thing.

But I have made posts about the V&A Waterfront at the harbour with the seals and the statues, which is a popular tourist destination people would travel to. So THAT would be a travel post that fits with the Worldmappin Community.
