With the new Codex Space Wolves currently on pre-order, would it be unwise for me to continue with this series expansion until I know what is happening to my current packs, or can I feasibly expand in other ways?

Let's look at the current Grand Imperial Army list, which is made up of only Space Wolves at the moment and check what the implications might be:

Grand Imperial Army - 2,130pts

Space Wolves - 2,130pts

Space Wolves Characters - 470pts

Logan Grimnar - 115pts - becoming 110pts, model change (base size will need to be resized)

Bjorn the Fell-Handed - 190pts - becoming 180pts

Rune Priest (Librarian, Thorin Thunderstaff) - 65pts - Need to see how SW/SM Codex interact

Wolf Guard Pack Leader in Terminator Armor (Kjarl Diregaze) - 40pts Affected - moved to Legends?

Iron Priest (Kreggus Ironblood) - 60pts - Still good!

Space Wolves Battleline Units - 310pts

10x Blood Claws (Pack Torvin) - 140pts - Unit of 10 valid for 135pts, need to change weapon options

5x Grey Hunters (Pack Hrothnar) - 85pts - No longer a valid option

5x Grey Hunters (Pack Bjandr) - 85pts - No longer a valid option

Space Wolves Dedicated Transports - 190pts

Razorback Dedicated to Pack Hrothnar - 95pts - no longer an option for new Codex Grey Hunters

Razorback Dedicated to Pack Bjandr - 95pts - Ditto as above

Space Wolves Other Units - 1,160pts

Vindicator (Belar) - 185pts - Unaffected

Vindicator (Jorundyn) - 185pts - Unaffected

Ballistus Dreadnought (Voraf) - 140pts - Unaffected

Land Raider - 240pts - Unaffected

Space Wolf Scouts (Pack Skarwin) - 80pts - Gone from Codex, Legends?

5x Long Fangs (Pack Vurheim 120pts) - Gone from Codex, Legends?

Redemptor Dreadnought (Sven) - 210pts - Unaffected.

So we can see that around 600pts of this army is now affected by the changes.

I have no doubt that at least some of these units will be moved to Legends... in which case I can keep them the way that they are and I can then just build new units to be compliant with the new Codex Space Wolves.

However... if I stick to Codex Space Marine units in the Space Wolves army or Legends units then I should be able to expand without issues.

I am not going to be changing any of the points costs until the new Codex and new Legends update has been officially launched.

Do you think this is a fair response?
