Violence: A Flaw in Society or a Feature of Humanity?
I don't know everything, but from the little I know, violence has always been there. Whether it's a war, fight, or just an argument, I don't think violence can ever be totally absent. I mean, even in heaven violence couldn't be totally eradicated right, so what makes you think we can on earth 🤷🏽♀️?
In my 200 level in the university, they taught that the total absence of violence can never be peace. I believe that is something that has never existed right from the very beginning of the earth—at least from my knowledge.
But still, it doesn't make violence right. It might be important for peace—yes, for peace, there has to be violence—but this violence is normally on a large scale—Like the government fighting and stopping terrorists with violence—that is the only way to stop them from creating more violence.
But if you notice these days, we have started having violence on the tiniest scales—you see little children being so violent.
It's really alarming how unnecessary violence is getting rampant, and it needs to be checked.
Now I see many people saying that the games and movies these days have a role to play in all this. I play Call of Duty Mobile, and I have never had a thought of being violent. I watch crazy movies and serial killer movies like Kill Boksoon, and I get excited when doing these, but still, I don't have a single violent bone in my body. But that doesn't mean every child out there is like me. Who knows, maybe if I was a boy, I would be a little violent.
But that's not the only thing influencing the rate of violence in the system. One thing people forget about the world and its pattern is that a major source of violence has always been survival. Up to 80% of every violent act committed is done in the name of survival, even the small-scale ones like school fights and the rest.
Now put the way the world is going now, with the spike in population and the decline of the economy of many systems, the struggles, the poverty, the oppression, and injustice—the world is gradually turning into a world of “the survival of the fittest," and who doesn't want to survive?
I am pretty sure people who don't like violence—and that's including me—if we were all given weapons and told our survival depended on it, would be shocked at how quickly people would change.
So whenever people try to blame everything on the media and the spread of violence through technology, I am like nah—the major problem is from human nature. But that doesn't mean the spread of violence through technology should be ignored either because it still promotes violence in a large unit.
I have this law of three ranges I use—the "law of hyper, hypo, and iso".
This means that there always has to be a balance of everything, although some things might not concur with this law—like how I always wonder if the eradication and extinction of mosquitoes will ever turn into a hypo situation.
So, to push the growing violence back to the iso state, we can use the control and regulation of the spread of violence through technology.
The regulation of the media at large, the enforcement of stronger laws, and some awareness creation would do good.
Let's not also forget that much of this violence comes from home. We need to learn to correct violence, especially coming from these little ones who might not understand violence well enough.

But I believe these ways can only combat violence in a smaller unit and not at large.
Do you think violence can ever be stopped on a global scale, or is it against human nature?
Is it something that is here to stay?

Violence can be from both depending on the situation.
Awesome write-up 👏
You are very correct; when you ask people why they commit violent acts, all they have to say is "survival." That is the only excuse they give, trying to survive while causing harm to others.
