Outnumbered but Not Outclassed: My Unexpected Clutch to Victory
Good day everyone and splinterlands community, There are battles that genuinely surprise me, especially when I find myself at a clear disadvantage yet manage to turn the tides as the match unfolds with unexpected twists. Today, I want to write about a fierce battle in which I thought I would never win, but with careful planning and a little bit of luck, I was able to secure the victory. I'll explain my strategy with regard to the particular set of rules in this match in this breakdown, showing you how I adjusted to the circumstances in spite of the odds. likewise, this battle is my submission for the Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Underdog Victories!, fitting in well with the idea of conquering obstacles and winning in spite of the disadvantages.

With a 34 mana cap and Life as the only inactive element, the battle rule sets for this match were Wands Out, Fog of War, and Born Again. I chose the Dragon element because I wanted to use Akane as my summoner and combine it with the Death element together, especially to use Arachne Weaver’s Corrupted Healing ability for a powerful and well-rounded healing strategy.

To be able to take full advantage of her Ambush ability and combine powerful magic units from the Dragon element and Death Element, I selected Akane as my summoner. To be able to take full advantage of her Ambush ability and combine powerful magic units** from the Dragon element, I selected Akane as my summoner. considering its strong hybrid magic and melee attacks, I positioned Zyrx the Emberglace in the first position of my lineup to act as both my main tank and primary damage dealer. While Arachne Weaver played an important support role with Corrupted Healing, keeping my frontline strong, Dark Arborist was deployed as a magic support unit, offering debuffs through Magic Reflect and Demoralise. As my backup tank in the backline, Helheim Demon used Taunt to strategically distract the majority of enemy attacks from Zyrx in order to keep my main attacker from being overpowered. Together, this arrangement allowed Helheim to take a lot of damage while Arachne's healing kept Zyrx stable in the front line. Zyrx the Emberglace and Helheim Demon were also given Ambush so they could attack first in crucial situations and maximise their offensive potential before possibly being eliminated.
Whereas my opponent decided to use the Dragon element along with Fire, which made for a strong combination in this match. The opponent had Nalara Geinek, Hodlor, Baron Fyatt, Ashen Cindergrim, Inept Healer, and Forked Tongued Sage in their lineup, respectively. Utilising the Born Again rule set, which gives each unit the ability to resurrect once, they had a clear strategy: to overwhelm me with numbers. This would give the opponent an advantage in maintaining pressure throughout the battle. Their Nalara Geinek was an essential magic debuff support that made things more difficult by lowering my magic attack by 1 and limiting the total power of my magic damage output. The opponent also applied Poison Bursts from their Sheng Xiao summoner to Nalara Geinek and Hodlor, which was a smart move since these two were positioned to be the first targets to get eliminated during the battle.
Since my opponent had a well-planned strategy and an obvious numbers advantage, I honestly thought I would lose the battle at the beginning. But the momentum quickly shifted in my favour when my Zyrx the Emberglace defeated Nalara Geinek at the end of the first round. My magic damage fully recovered after the debuff unit was removed, greatly increasing my attack power.
Zyrx was able to strike first and achieve that important elimination because I completely forgot that I had given it the Ambush role. 😁
However, my chances of winning would have drastically decreased if that first attack had failed or miss.
As the battle progressed into round five, I was amazed to see that Zyrx the Emberglace and Helheim Demon were still alive in spite of sustained poison damage and intense enemy attacks. The fact that Zyrx had the Incendiary status added to the difficulty; he lost two health every round and ran the risk of burning nearby allies.
Thankfully, the majority of the opponent's units had been defeated by round five, ensuring victory and turning what appeared to be a hopeless beginning into a worthy victory.🤗

When the odds were stacked against me, it felt so good to win. Given how well-thought-out and formidable my opponent's strategy was, I was initially pretty sure I would lose.
However, the match became an exciting comeback as the fight went on and the momentum changed, particularly after Zyrx the Emberglace defeated Nalara Geinek.
That feeling of tension, excitement😁, and relief😇 when I knew I had won made the experience even more fulfilling and demonstrated how timing, strategy, and a little bit of luck can totally change the outcome of a conflict.😎

A Big Thanks! For supporting me, being here, and coming this far. I hope this strategy assists you with some of your battles with these rule sets in modern format conclave and rebellion sets.
