Hello everybody! Today I will tell you about what we saw in St. Petersburg on the day when we finished visiting the exposition of the Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic. If you walk from the museum a little to the West along Kuznechny Lane, you can see the golden domes of the most beautiful cathedral from afar. This is the Cathedral of the Icon of the Vladimir Mother of God. We noticed it even before we visited the museum and were now moving in the opposite direction to get a better look at the temple.

ONLINE REFERENCE: The Cathedral in honor of the icon of the Vladimir Mother of God is one of the oldest in the city on the Neva. Built in the second third of the XVIII century, it is located in the very center, near Nevsky Prospekt on Vladimirskaya Square.
Then the border of St. Petersburg passed along the Fontanka River. The entrance to the city was at the bridge on the Nevsky Prospect. There was a barrier and an outpost called Anichkovs. This area was called the Moscow suburb.

The cathedral building is built in the Baroque style. From the online help, I also learned that the author of the project is Pietro Antonio Trezzini and this is actually the second temple, built later on the site of St. Vladimir's Church. Previously, it was a wooden building with a bell tower, the church was built during the reign of Empress Anna Ioannovna and so, before its reconstruction, it stood for 23 years.

We didn't get inside the cathedral, but I found out that nothing from the old original iconostasis had survived. Later, when churches in our country began to be restored in the late 80s of the XX century, a detailed restoration was carried out and the iconostasis was partially reconstructed according to an ancient drawing by Worfvolomey Rastrelli, who initially took part in the construction of the temple.

My daughter and I walked around for a long time and I took these pictures. The temple building looks great today. Against the background of the sparkling blue St. Petersburg sky, it seems to glow with the sun, and its beautiful golden domes sparkle brightly and are visible for many kilometers around.

That day we no longer went to the places of interest, because we had a lot of important things to do in the city. But tomorrow I will tell you about how we went by speedboat from St. Petersburg to Peterhof. There will be a lot of photos and an interesting story. And that's it for today!

Привет всем! Сегодня я расскажу о том, что мы увидели в Петербурге в тот день, когда закончили осмотр экспозиции музея Арктики и Антарктики. Если пройти от музея чуть на Запад по Кузнечному переулку, можно издалека увидеть золотые купола красивейшего собора. Это Собор иконы Владимирской Божьей Матери. Его мы заметили ещё до того, как побывали в музее и сейчас двигались в обратном направлении, чтобы получше рассмотреть храм.

СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ: Собор в честь иконы Владимирской Богоматери один из старейших в городе на Неве. Построенный во второй трети XVIII века, он находится в самом центре, близ Невского проспекта на Владимирской площади.
Тогда граница Санкт-Петербурга проходила по реке Фонтанке. Въезд в город находился у моста на Невской «першпективе». Здесь были шлагбаум и застава, называемые Аничковыми. Эта местность носила название – Московское предместье.

Здание собора выстроено в стиле барокко. Из справки в сети я также узнал, что автором проекта является Пьетро Антонио Трезини и это на самом деле второй храм, выстроенный позже на месте Владимирской церкви. Ранее это было деревянное здание с колокольней, церковь построили ещё при императрице Анне Иоанновне и так, до своей перестройки, она простояла целых 23 года.

Мы не попали внутрь собора, но я узнал, что из старинного оригинального иконостаса не уцелело ничего. Позже, когда в конце 80-х годов XX века храмы в нашей стране стали восстанавливать, была проведена подробная ресаврация и иконостас был частично реконструирован по старинному рисунку Ворфволомея Растрелли, который изначально принимал участие в обустройстве храма.

Мы с дочкой долго ходили вокруг и я сделал вот эти снимки. Здание храма сегодня выглядит просто великолепно. На фоне цистого синего петербургского неба оно словно светится солнцем, а его золотые красивые купола ярко сверкают и выдны на многие километры вокруг.

В этот день мы больше не ходили по достопримечательным местам, потому что у нас было много важных дел в городе. Но завтра я расскажу о том, как мы отправились на быстроходном катере из Петербурга в Петергоф. Будет много фотографий и интересный рассказ. А на сегодня у меня всё!
