New Year's holidays in St. Petersburg (part 9).
During the few days that we stayed in St. Petersburg during the winter holidays, we managed to see a lot of interesting things. In addition to the museums and exhibitions that we visited, we also took long walks in the summer, despite the frosty weather.
One day, as I mentioned earlier, my daughter, my sister, and I went to the farthest part of Vasilyevsky Island to find an ice rink and go ice skating. That hike turned out to be a real challenge, as it suddenly began to snow heavily, a blizzard swept over us, and if we hadn't been hiding in shops and house entrances, we would have been covered from head to toe with snowflakes.
We were so cold that when we came to the rink, we no longer had the desire to skate. We successfully sold our tickets to the people who stood in line behind them. We bought our own T-shirts, which are Hungarian pastries with fillings, and went to the shore of the Gulf of Finland, as the snow had subsided a little by that time. That was the first time I saw the frozen sea and it made a strong impression.
On other days, we mostly had evening walks, as the days in St. Petersburg are very short in winter. Moskovsky Prospekt has mostly massive Stalinist buildings, but I also found some interesting buildings there. And there, on Moskovsky Prospekt, I found an art store and bought myself a lot of different paints and very thick watercolor paper, which I haven't tried out yet.
