A Grey Horse

So we got quite a French fan to it all, but. He's in great form, but it's fascinating with the Generations meet because obviously at this stage, he's only been running against his age group. He's a grey horse as well, John.

Just a mystique isn't there about a grey horse, which must tempt a few more punters as well. Well, it does. It's recognisable, you know, and there are grades, but it's not, it's pretty, yet it's more interesting than the colours.

So people very much associate and pin their hopes on a great horse. I just have to ask you as well, John, about some sad news on the opening day of Goodwood yesterday, the death of popular horse Troushan, who was pulled up midway through. The feature race, the Goodwood Cup with an injury which later proved to be fatal.

I know you also had a runner in that race yesterday. Goes without saying that it just must be incredibly difficult for everyone connected to True Sham, that the trainer Alan King, the jockey Holly Doyle and everyone else. So when you have a tragedy like that.

Yet the most profoundly loved horses. Very noble citizen, the great cause in many ways over many years. And these appalling freak accents just can't happen out of the blue. And this in the case if the ground is in beautiful condition. I have seen horses myself just galloping around the paddock, and suddenly,y an accident.

It's an unavoidable thing 'cause all these horses are thoroughly checked, they checked everything before, but for some reason, the foot was put down a little awkwardly behind and just caused that fracture to occur.

But it's very grief-stricken. And we welcome views from all stakeholders, including businesses, trade bodies, and the third sector. Sector and individuals, John Gosden, enjoy your day at Goodwood today. Day 2 of glorious Goodwood is getting underway, as we say, a little later on this afternoon.
