The Fight

When people say they get bored often I wonder "like how?" How do you get bored? Well, don't look at me like that because if this question were asked some months ago, I would have said that I get bored as well, but so far, I've been able to create new hobbies to enable me to fight boredom. To my greatest surprise, I won that fight, "so give me the trophy already," so I can take it to the bank and cash some funds.

Now let's talk about how boredom comes: lectures have started, so get your writing materials and take this journey with me, but then remember that this journey doesn't have a destination. We might create one if the need be though. Everybody gets bored and don't tell me that you don't get bored "because..." let me hold that to myself for now.

Everybody gets bored at one point or another when there is a feeling of weariness and restlessness that is caused by a lack of interest. Boredowm can also be caused by lack of external distraction or should I say it is mostly caused by low motivation "like no vibe" when the mind is filled with a sense of frustration with emptiness then boom "boredom steps in and becomes the order of the day" and when we don't fight this boredom it is likely to escalate to something bigger.

Just like every other person, I have been bored before, and if I say I haven't, then I'd be lying, and I don't want that. So I usually get bored when I'm not engaging in anything, like when my mind loses interest in certain things, and I find myself reacting to that loss of interest. It's that moment that I would be like, "Ooh, it's really the mind that controls our whole being," so the mind works in mysterious ways.

So when I get bored, often what I do is "overthink" yeah, you heard right, I'm an overthinker, when I start thinking things, you'd be surprised how I got the energy to do all that. I know that often people tend to say that thinking is good, but then when I think, things go downhill. It's at the moment that I think about all the negative things, the mistakes I've made in the past that I can't change, and I'd be wishing desperately to change them.

I think about regrets as well, I also think about things that would make me so upset that I would consider cutting myself off from everyone around me "I've tried this a lot though" I can also go the extra miles in thinking about something that I wouldn't think about on a normal day but then I haven't actually done anything to make it come to pass and I don't think I will ever do that.

Now that is the major reason I hate being bored, because whenever I'm bored, I always think of the negativity around me, and I regret it, and when I start to think the thought stays right in my head, and you know what, "I will continue to think". When the combat between me and boredom started, I almost lost the fight, but then, being a victorious being, I didn't let it win; rather, I unfolded those muscles that I've been hiding and faced it head-on.

There are different ways I fight boredom, and one of them is "I talk to people around me." One thing I've noticed is that talking to people helps in fighting boredom because I get to express myself and share whatever I'm feeling. And I'm the type that doesn't hide my feelings, I share them to ease myself from whatever pain I'm going through. Talking to people you trust has a way of lifting a burden off your shoulders, "that I've learned".

Another thing is "hang out with friends" sometimes going outside is the only key because when you are outside, and your eyes are busy capturing the new environment around you, your head will be occupied with different thoughts, and definitely not the ones I left home with. And lastly, I'm a movie freak, so that works as well. Engaging in something I love helps a lot, so I've gotten better at fighting boredom.

Thanks for reading 🧡

WOW! Thinking. This is also a new idea to me because I did rather go out and discuss with friends instead of staying at home and think about what is good and bad.
Thanks for sharing

Yeah, discussing with friends helps a lot. Like it's the remedy for me.

Sometimes there will be no friend to go to or you will feel like staying alone.

Yeah, and keep yourself busy with something because if you aren't occupied, I don't think boredom will go away just like that.

Boredom leads to overthinking which I have been there before, too. It took me years to overcome that and now, just like you, I fought this with the help of God. Even when I’m bored today, I just lie down and turn on the music to allow it play in the background while I sit there, swinging my body left and right…the rest is story which I would be writing soon. Lol

Yeah, and I don't know why I forgot to add the music part chaiii, but then I'm glad you are over that phase. I'm still working on mine, though, and hopefully I will come over it just like you did.

Thank you, Mama.

You had an experience like that. Wow I would love to know about it mama if you don't mind. Our friends also matter

But this overthinking will allow it to set in more and it can even open the next stage ooo. Because friends won't be there always and when we overthink at times, boredom sets in more

Yeah you are totally correct, but then I still have my personal ways I fight boredom because I can't be stressed.
