That one skill~what could it be?
Hello everyone, how are you doing today? Happy mid-week.
Having a skill is very important in these modern times, living in my nation some bosses pay their management staff peanuts, in times like this when things are very expensive, people find it hard to cope, even with the high cost of transportation and salary remains the same like it's stagnant. Having a skill can help with having extra income aside from the salaries. And that brings me to the prompt of this week:
We all have one way or another learned one or two skills throughout our years of living, aside from school, is important to have some skills that can help you make a living in case you don't have a job or some extra cash.
Growing up I've always had a passion for hairdressing, none of my family members make hair but I don't know why I had the zeal for it, at a very young age my mum wasn't interested in paying for the classes for me, she feels as a teenager what do I know, so she never took it seriously, me at the other hand I didn't trouble her with it, cause as a single parent she had a lot of things to care of and mine was the least.
So what I did to pursue my passion was, whenever my mum sent me on an errand, on my way when I saw people making hair I'd go closer and take a good look at the style they were making and the procedure, I'd make sure I look at the pattern very well, then I had this barbie doll that has a very long hair so when I get home I'll practice the hairstyle I saw the people making earlier on my doll's hair. That was the beginning of my hairdressing journey. From my doll's hair, I graduated to making children's hair with the consent of their parents.
One weekend my mum asked me to go get hair extensions, I thought she wanted to make her hair outside, but when I got back she was like "Oya I'm ready come and make my hair" If you make it very fine I'll pay for it, I was so excited my first client so I gave it my best and the hair came out very fine, so she gave me the money she promised.
From that date till now, I've been making use of this skill, It is something that helped me escape "sapa" in the university and currently, I'm still making hair as a side hustle, I'm only chanced on weekends, and these weekends I don't go work I make customers hair and add up for my transportation to work, feeding, and paying some other bills.
Are you ready to train others?
Well, the answer is yes, I'm very much ready to train those who show interest in learning it. So I've been able to train my younger sister on it as well, right now my sister makes hair very well but not more than me tho.
