Skill learned as a child~ that's unforgettable.

Do we still remember when we were kids and how the adults seemed so serious and structured with whatever they were doing that we would always wish to be like them?

Learning never stops, it is something we do every day without the consciousness of it. Learning is a process of gaining new experiences and as children, we learn by continuously observing the activities our parents engage in around the house, we learn both the good and bad from what we watch, and if not cautioned properly we'd end up portraying the bad in the nearest future.

One skill I learned as a child was "making hair" Was my mum a stylist? The answer is no, none of my siblings knew how to make hair, now the big question how did I get to learn it?
I wasn't enrolled in a special class as well, I just learned it with my eyes and practice.

Growing up I was among those kids whose parents would send them on errands and would not come back on time, well mine wasn't like playing on the road though mine was different well if you wanna call it play you can but it was playing on a good course hehe!!. So whenever my mum or elders sent me on errands, on my way, if I see where people are making hair I would branch and watch what they were doing, I would take my time to look at the way they were making it the whole process. I would stand there for hours till my older ones would come looking for me that's when I'd follow them to meet the person that sent me on the errand, now if it was my mum when I see the anger in her eyes I'd start begging from a distance cause coming close to her at that moment would result to a world war where I'd be the one to suffer from general body pains.

That's how I started I became conscious of not spending too much time looking at the stylist what I did was I had this Barbie doll that had plenty of hair, whenever I go out and see the stylists making hair I would look at the procedure very well and then go home to recreate the same style on my doll's hair. After that I started making my little niece's hair, often I would attempt so many trials till the outcome was good enough, and when my mum saw my progress in the hair game she decided to allow me to make her hair, at first I was scared then she said " you can do it" these words gave me courage, these words showed I can get it done, so I started the hair and the result was mind-blowing, people passing would be like "wow this hair so fine, you can make hair o" now these positive words made me realize I was good at it.

Before getting into the university I was opportune to work in a hairdressing salon where I was able to grow my skill and still make money, the very first money I made for myself was through hairdressing. Currently, I don't just make people's hair alone I make my hair as well when I'm moved.

This is my entry into the Inleo monthly prompt day 16 you can be a part of it by clicking on the above link.

Working in a hairdresser salon before university not only sharpened your talents but also allowed you to earn your first paycheck doing something you enjoy. I love how your passion for hairdressing has grown into a professional ability that offers joy to both you and others.

Not me currently packing my bags to Nigeria to find you to make my hair because you are really good at this.

You were watching hair dressers anytime you were sent, if I only I could go back in time, then I would do same anytime I was sent🥹

I love how passionate you were in trying to learn how to make hair as a kid.

Since you learnt how to make hair from a young age, I guess I can call you a pro.
