Ever had that feeling about a movie that was a great masterpiece, and all of a sudden, you found out that it was based on a true life event? This movie made me feel that way; it got me on the edge of my seat at every moment. Often it felt like I was among the cast and I needed to do something.

The plot

The movie starts with Chris having a moment with his fiance and telling her about the next job he is going for. When he mentioned "diving," the fiancee became scared a little bit and couldn't tell him because she knew he wasn't gonna listen, so all she did was tell him to be careful.

When Chris got to the ship, he was assigned to a team, and the team consisted of three persons, "Chris, Duncan, and Dave." They are known as saturation divers who work to maintain undersea gas lines in the northern sea.

While on rotation, it was time for the team to be deployed into the sea. They were carried by a pressurized chamber, which stimulated water conditions, and then deployed into the depths of the sea. The ship bell rang and it was time for deployment, Chris and Dave exited to begin work on an undersea gas line manifold while Duncan remained station close to the ship bell to monitor their status and distribute the umbilical line that supported them with oxygen and a source of communication, also to give out information to the captain on the ship.

Chris and Dave got to the manifold, and it was time to begin their work, but then, on the surface, their dynamic positioning system had a malfunction, causing the ship to start drifting. The bell dragged along with Duncan still inside, and Chris and Dave climbed to the top of the manifold so that they would be unobstructed when they were also pulling along, but unfortunately, Chris's umbilical ran out of slacks before he could make it to the manifold.

So his teammate Dave told him to switch to his bailout airline. Which will provide him with ten minutes of emergency oxygen under the sea. Dave promises to come back for Chris but is told he must be on top of the manifold to enable locate him faster.

During the minutes of emergency oxygen, Chris had elapsed, and he was left with no oxygen; Chris stayed under the sea without oxygen for twenty-nine minutes and twenty-five seconds. His teammate Dave finally made it back to the manifold after the ship had been dragged by the mighty storm, thereby leading the captain to operate the ship manually, which hadn't been done before.

When Dave got to Chris on the manifold, he was lifeless. He managed to pull him into the bell despite the weight of Chris. I'm gonna end here while you see this masterpiece and unveil the great thing that happened.

My Review

Firstly, I'm the kind of person who is likely to avoid risky situations; just like the fiancee tried to discourage Chris from going, "I would have done the same," to avoid the incident that happened. I know nobody prays to encounter such life-threatening situations, but then if we are in a position of avoiding "I'm gonna avoid it," that would mean one thing: "not going to work".

Staying underwater without oxygen for close to thirty minutes, Chris still survived such a situation without having any brain damage; his teammates were surprised at the experience because they'd never seen such a thing happen before. Normally, when someone stays underwater for a long time, the person is likely to experience brain damage, but in the case of Chris, there was none. He was normal.

This movie is an incredible masterpiece, and the fact that it is based on a true-life event makes it even more incredible. I love how the cast personalized every scene; they looked like they were the ones who experienced the whole thing. The water scenes looked so real that I couldn't hold myself but imagine the amazing creation. I'm gonna recommend this movie to anyone interested in seeing it

Thanks for reading 🧡
