Windmills of Your Mind - Michel Legrand (Cover) by @yisusth

A warm greeting to everyone in this beautiful #Music community. I am pleased to share my trumpet interpretation of “Windmills of Your Mind,” an orchestral pop song with French chanson influences, composed by Michel Legrand with lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman in 1968. This musical piece was written for the film The Thomas Crown Affair. The lyrics talk about how the mind often gets caught up in thoughts that spin endlessly, like never-ending circles. The song is in E minor, and in my case, I perform it in F minor. The melody is winding, with wide intervals and variations that resemble a mental cycle. The tempo is moderate, with a flowing rhythm and a 4/4 time signature. This piece reminds me that, at certain moments in our life, our mind may wander among different thoughts and ideas without finding solutions. So, we must wait for moments of calm and peace to make decisions.

December is a wonderful opportunity to close one chapter and start a new one. Every time this season arrives, I reflect on the things I have accomplished and those I still need to complete. Success can be measured in a small step and it is not the same for everyone. Some goals can be more challenging than others, and some require greater effort, dedication, and commitment. This year I bought my laptop, and I consider it one of the most important achievements. Not only can I improve my work, but I can also continue making progress in my studies. I felt frustrated because I couldn't take some courses, as I couldn't install certain programs on my old computer, which slowed down my progress. I feel grateful to my Heavenly Father for allowing me to achieve this small but meaningful accomplishment. Now, in 2026, it is my turn to get back on track and do things better.

Windmills of Your Mind
Round like a circle in a spiral like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending on beginning on an ever-spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel that's turning running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes on its face
And the world is like an apple spinning silently in space
Like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind
Like a tunnel that you follow to a tunnel of its own
Down a hollow to a cavern where the sun has never shone
Like a door that keeps revolving in a half-forgotten dream
Like the ripples from a pebble someone tosses in a stream
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes on its face
And the world is like an apple spinning silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind
Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle in your head
Why did summer go so quickly?
Was it something that I said?
Lovers walk along a shore
And leave their footprints in the sand
Was the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand?
Pictures hanging in a hallway
Or the fragment of a song
Half-remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong?
When you knew that it was over
Were you suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the color of her hair?
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever-spinning reel
As the images unwind
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind
