The biggest weight on HIVE right now is the stupid high interest on HBD. Currently the HBD market capitalization is about $10.3 million which much of it staked. I believe that we are paying about $100,000 a month in interest at 15%.
The market capitalization has been falling. This shows that HBD holders have been converting more than $100,000 a month into HIVE.
$100,000 pushed through the conversion generates 1,562,500 million HIVE.
We can lower the interest rate. If users went to the HIVE witness page and removed their vote from witnesses voting for 12% or higher and voted for witnesses voting 10% or less; then we can force a lowering of the rate.
Dropping the rate from 15% to 12% would save 312,500 HIVE interest. dropping the rate to 10% would save 520,833 HIVE in interest.
