Un gran abrazo, el día de hoy he venido a mostrarle un proyecto que me fascino, en especial porque tuve libertad creativa en todo sentido, la única petición fue escribir la frase "Feliz Cumpleaños 73" y que fuera al estilo vaquero, mi primera idea era hacerlo como un letrero de "Se Busca" populares en las películas de este estilo, pero buscando algunas referencias, termine optando por un letrero tipo el que tienen los bares o en general cualquier establecimiento de este estilo, a continuación les mostrar un poco del proceso de ejecución, espero sea de su agrado.

A big hug, today I have come to show you a project that fascinated me, especially because I had creative freedom in every way, the only request was to write the phrase “Happy Birthday 73” and that was cowboy style, my first idea was to do it as a sign of “Wanted” popular in movies of this style, but looking for some references, I ended up opting for a sign type that have the bars or in general any establishment of this style, then show you a little of the execution process, I hope you like it.

En mi búsqueda de referencias encontré unos letreros de cantinas muy llamativos y con esto en mente comencé a componer la estructura de la frase, en primer lugar ubique el centro de la lamina de papel y entonces cree un pequeño arco en la parte superior donde escribiría la palabra FELIZ y debajo de esta en un tamaño mas grande la palabra cumpleaños con letra capital tanto al principio como al final de la palabra, mas abajo el numero 73
Enmarque todo por tablones de madera, para que pareciese uno de estos letreros de cantina del Viejo Oeste.

In my search for references I found some very striking cantina signs and with this in mind I began to compose the structure of the sentence, first I placed the center of the sheet of paper and then created a small arch at the top where I would write the word HAPPY and below this in a larger size the word birthday with capital letter both at the beginning and at the end of the word, below the number 73
I framed everything by wooden planks, to look like one of these cantina signs of the Old West.

Luego comencé entonces a pintar, en primer lugar pinte el tablón debajo de la palabra cumpleaños de color rojo y el resto de tablones de color marrón tratando de mantener todo con tonos cálidos y sepias como es propio del estilo vaquero, coloque en total dos capas de pintura para que cubriera que con este clima frio tardo mucho para secar entre capa y capa.

Then I started painting, first I painted the plank under the word birthday in red and the rest of the planks in brown trying to keep everything with warm tones and sepia as is typical of the cowboy style, I put a total of two coats of paint to cover that with this cold weather it took a long time to dry between coats.

Ahora comencé a colorear las letras, para la palabra cumpleaños me decidí mezclar un poco de amarillo en el blanco y crear un tomo mas envejecido del blanco, luego hice algunos trazos en color marrón mas oscuro en la parte de los tablones para ir generando la textura de madera y marcando la separación entre los tablones, luego con pinceladas de marrón claro fui dibujando las betas de la madera.

Now I began to color the letters, for the word birthday I decided to mix a little yellow in the white and create a more aged volume of white, then I made some strokes in darker brown color in the part of the planks to generate the texture of wood and marking the separation between the planks, then with light brown brushstrokes I was drawing the betas of the wood.

Para ornamentar las letras dibuje unas lineas delgadas en medio y con algunos rombos y flores en las puntas, aunque sencillo fue un detalle que elevo mucho lo vistoso de estas letras, para la palabra feliz también quería un efecto especial, tome una malla pequeña y la llene de pintura, la cual estampe en la parte de abajo de la letras para que pareciera que la pintura se esta borrando y contribuir con el efecto desgastado del estilo vaquero.

To ornament the letters I drew some thin lines in the middle and with some diamonds and flowers at the ends, although simple it was a detail that elevated the colorfulness of these letters, for the word happy I also wanted a special effect, I took a small mesh and filled it with paint, which I stamped on the bottom of the letters to make it look like the paint is being erased and contribute to the worn effect of the cowboy style.

Para el numero quería algo diferente así que cree una mezcla de azul, amarillo y aclare con blanco para crear un tono un poco mas turquesa y deje algunas zonas mas amarillas como si se estuviese decolorando, para despegar el todo del fondo dibuje una sombra con un tono violeta que prepare con una buena cantidad de agua para que la pincelada luciera un poco traslucida.

For the number I wanted something different so I created a mixture of blue, yellow and lighten with white to create a tone a little more turquoise and leave some areas more yellow as if it were fading, to take off the whole background I drew a shadow with a violet tone that I prepared with a good amount of water so that the brushstroke looked a little translucent.

Para completar este diseño dibuje en la parte inferior un par de revólveres apuntando hacia afuera y cuando estaba detallando ocurrió una fatalidad, el bote de pintura amarilla se derramo sobre la empuñadura de una de ellas, fue entonces que tuve que sacarle provecho a esa mancha y como la festejada es una mujer decidí hacer rosas por todos lados y en especial decorando las armas y el letrero, también habían otras pequeñas manchas, para estas dibuje balas volando por todos lados.

To complete this design I drew in the lower part a pair of revolvers pointing outwards and when I was detailing a fatality happened, the yellow paint can spilled on the handle of one of them, it was then that I had to take advantage of that stain and as the celebrant is a woman I decided to make roses everywhere and especially decorating the guns and the sign, there were also other small spots, for these I drew bullets flying all over the place.

Y este ha sido el resultado final de este proyecto, estoy muy contenta con los resultados y por todo lo que fue resultando en el proceso que convirtió este proyecto en este resultado. En el pasado hubiera estado muy preocupado por una mancha de pintura, ahora puedo improvisar en la marcha y hacer que todo resulte bien al final.

And this has been the end result of this project, I am very happy with the results and everything that went into the process that turned this project into this result. In the past I would have been very worried about a paint spill, now I can improvise on the fly and make everything turn out right in the end.
