The limits between traditional art and AI. [ESP/ENG]

Hace días ha estado circulando por las redes sociales las imágenes de las personas al estilo Ghibli generadas por Chatgpt, en lo personal, no había prestado atención a este trend que se ha estado dando, sin embargo, el día lunes viene una prima, quien me contrató para que le diseñara sus posts, el marketing de su red social y todo lo demás, a que le generara una imagen al estudio Ghibli en Chatgpt, ahí me indigné completamente, por varias razones. Primero y principal, que me pidan hacer un dibujo con IA, a sabiendas que yo dibujo, hago ilustraciones digitales, me pone triste, porque es mejor algo hecho por robot que por humanos.
Incluso le dije mi postura, le dije que puede diseñarle miles de post y todo eso, pero que yo siendo Licenciada en Artes Plásticas, que hago ilustraciones y que tengo un profundo respeto por el arte de Hayao Miyazaki, no estaba de acuerdo; en lo que ella me responde que no será subido a la página de su empresa, que es algo de moda y todo ello. Se lo hice con la condición de que no me volviera a pedir algo así, generar una ilustración con IA, copiando el estilo de otro artista, literalmente.
Incluso, hay muchas imperfecciones.
Ella entendió perfectamente y valoró que tuviese mi postura, más en algo que me compete y desde ahí me aparecieron un sinfín de debates sobre este tema, hasta le escribí a otra prima agradeciendo que me haya pedido (claro pagando) realizar un personaje para la marca que esta formando, en vez de generarla con IA. Ella me dice que más bien pensaba que me estaba molestando y bueno, yo le comentó por ese Trend que esta de moda y ella me dice que no lo vea así, que más bien se está dando a conocer a Miyazaki y ahí no estuve para nada de acuerdo.
A varias razones tras ello, es el esfuerzo, la creatividad y las horas invertidas que se encuentra detrás de un estilo artístico, de un dibujo, de miles de fotogramas hechos a mano, no me vengan a decir que es una forma de tributo. Les cuento, en el 2020 yo hacia ilustraciones de personas al estilo Simpsons y me costó mucho entender como hacer que las mismas tuvieran ese estilo, sin que se perdiera la apariencia de la persona, hubo horas de trabajo para entender la anatomía de este estilo, los colores, fueron tiempos largos de aprendizaje así que, el que una Inteligencia copie algo que llevas años dominar y ser único, en unos simples minutos, ya algo anda mal.

Yo no digo que la IA sea mala, más bien es una herramienta que optimiza el trabajo que realizamos, yo la uso para la parte de marketing y ayudar en algunos diseños, más que nada porque no sé el área de trabajo de mi empresa y todo ello, sin embargo, con esta moda que, si puede ser pasajera y eso, no deja de ser un plagio, minimizando la creatividad y que, a la larga, puede ocasionar desinformación y muchas cosas que dejaran poco a poco los diversas áreas laborales, sobre todo a las que compete a las humanidades. La otra vez, la misma prima que me dijo que IA es una herramienta y eso, me envió un reel donde una chica hablaba de como con un formulario, la IA le dio un mejor cuadro de que problemas tenia, que lo que un psicólogo no le había podido dar, ahí no estuve de acuerdo, porque la IA solo replica lo que ya está, no crea nada nuevo, se basa en todo lo que ya está en el mundo.
Que tu psicólogo no te asesore como es, no quiere decir que otro no lo haga, no hay que dejar que algo que puede ser una herramienta positiva en el mundo, se convierta en el desplazamiento del ingenio humano, del conocimiento invertido y de la imaginación andante. Algo que también estuve leyendo, es que comentaban que, con la llegada de la fotografía, los artistas se reinventaron y lograron darnos el impresionismo, el surrealismo y las distintas vanguardias que actualmente conocemos como predecesoras del arte moderno; no obstante, aquí estamos hablando de tiempo, hablamos de las industrias preferirán los robots y la tecnología inteligente, a trabajadores que duran mucho más en llevar a cabo las tareas propuestas.
Con esto me pregunte, mi prima que es diseñadora ¿diría lo mismo si su trabajo es desplazado por la IA? Siento que ahí si no manifestaría lo mismo, cada cosa en su punto, no estoy en contra de la IA, estoy en contra de que no hay medidas para establecer un orden en que usarla, como usarla y donde emplearlos. Si quieres honrar al artista, ve sus obras, haz fan arts y mencionas tu trabajo, no hay que desprestigiar las manos humanas y las emociones que se impregnan en las mismas; esta herramienta inteligente se está convirtiendo en una escusa para desplazarnos e “invertir menos y ganar más”, si hay que adaptarnos, pero no por solo consumismo y moda, no demos créditos al humano que lo hizo posible.
Sé que es bastante largo, pero, de algún modo quería desahogarme y dejar mis puntos críticos al respecto, así que me preguntó ¿Qué piensa ustedes de esto? Los leo.

Days ago has been circulating on social networks the images of people in Ghibli style generated by Chatgpt, personally, I had not paid attention to this trend that has been happening, however, on Monday comes a cousin, who hired me to design her posts, the marketing of her social network and everything else, to generate an image to the Ghibli studio in Chatgpt, there I was completely outraged, for several reasons. First and foremost, being asked to do a drawing with AI, knowing that I draw, I do digital illustrations, makes me sad, because it's better something done by robot than by humans.
I even told her my position, I told her that she can design thousands of posts and all that, but that me being a Bachelor of Fine Arts, that I do illustrations and that I have a deep respect for the art of Hayao Miyazaki, I did not agree; in which she replied that it will not be uploaded to the page of her company, that it is something fashionable and all that. I did it to her on the condition that she would not ask me for something like that again, to generate an illustration with AI, copying another artist's style, literally.
Even so, there are many imperfections.
She understood perfectly and appreciated that I had my position, more on something that concerns me and from there I had an endless number of debates on this topic, I even wrote to another cousin thanking her for asking me (of course paying) to make a character for the brand that she is forming, instead of generating it with AI. She told me that she thought she was bothering me and well, I told her about this Trend that is in fashion and she told me not to see it that way, that Miyazaki is becoming known and I did not agree with her at all..
There are several reasons behind it, it is the effort, the creativity and the hours invested behind an artistic style, a drawing, thousands of handmade frames, do not come to tell me that it is a form of tribute. I tell you, in 2020 I made illustrations of people in the Simpsons style and it cost me a lot to understand how to make them have that style, without losing the appearance of the person, there were hours of work to understand the anatomy of this style, the colors, were long times of learning so, that an Intelligence copy something that takes years to master and be unique, in a few minutes, and something is wrong.

I do not say that AI is bad, rather it is a tool that optimizes the work we do, I use it for the marketing part and help in some designs, mostly because I do not know the area of work of my company and all that, however, with this fashion that, if it can be passing and that, it is still a plagiarism, minimizing creativity and that, in the long run, can cause misinformation and many things that will leave little by little the various areas of work, especially those that fall under the humanities. The other time, the same cousin who told me that AI is a tool and that, sent me a reel where a girl talked about how with a form, AI gave her a better picture of what problems she had, than what a psychologist had not been able to give her, there I did not agree, because AI only replicates what is already there, it does not create anything new, it is based on everything that is already in the world.
That your psychologist does not advise you as it is, does not mean that another one does not do it, we must not let something that can be a positive tool in the world, become the displacement of human ingenuity, of invested knowledge and walking imagination. Something I was also reading, is that they commented that, with the arrival of photography, artists reinvented themselves and managed to give us impressionism, surrealism and the various avant-garde movements that we now know as predecessors of modern art; however, here we are talking about time, we are talking about industries will prefer robots and intelligent technology, to workers who last much longer in carrying out the proposed tasks.
With this I asked myself, my cousin who is a designer, would she say the same if her work is displaced by AI? I feel that she would not say the same, each thing in its point, I am not against AI, I am against that there are no measures to establish an order in what to use it, how to use it and where to use it. If you want to honor the artist, see his works, make fan arts and mention your work, we should not discredit the human hands and the emotions that are impregnated in them; this intelligent tool is becoming an excuse to move and “invest less and earn more”, if we have to adapt, but not just for consumerism and fashion, let's not give credit to the human who made it possible.

Otra herramienta que debe usarse para apoyar el talento y la creatividad, pero no para aparentar que somos inteligentes. Lástima que no se use así.

No creo que la IA suplante al ser humano aunque es cierto que puede optimizar procesos. Ahora bien, considero que la posibilidad de poder generar imágenes es asombroso no me parece nada ético presumir que se puede sustituir el trabajo de un profesional en el area de diseño o la ilustración, como tampoco creo que porque una IA pueda generar texto deba suplantar a un escritor. Es importante pensar en el factor ético del uso de la IA.

Es verdad, no creo que la IA suplante al ser humano, pero si no se frena el mal uso que se le da, puede repercutir a futuro en algo peor. Por ello, deberían existir normas que la regulen, pero bueno, ahi veremos como parara esto. Muchas gracias por dejar tu comentario. 🤗
