During the week I have decided to draw, so as not to lose practice and improve, and also to get out of my comfort zone (digital illustration) and return to the traditional, even though I don't have good colored pencils, I prefer to try to practice with what I have than not try, so I leave you the drawings I did this week and I hope to bring you much more.

Since I'd seen the K-pop movie Demon Hunters, I'd been wanting to draw something from it for a while, so I decided to make the tiger. I looked up an image online and started tracing the lines, then began coloring with a blue school pencil. After that, I painted the eyes with alcohol markers, using two shades of yellow and orange. I achieved a slight gradient, and with the colors, I defined them better.

Next, I colored the entire body, but here I realized I didn't apply the technique with the colored pencils well, so for the following drawings, I watched tutorials. I haven't painted freehand for a while 🙃; With this part of the colors ready, I proceeded with the markers to detail and paint a background.

The second drawing was a caricature of a photo of my cousin with her dog, which I really liked and wanted to do. The difference between this one and the tiger one is that this time I did the sketch in colored pencil. I want to get out of my comfort zone, since I usually tend to draw with a pencil or mechanical pencil and erase, and I don't build confidence in my strokes. This time I wanted to try something different and trust the lines more. Another thing that helps build confidence is drawing with pencils, but I haven't yet, maybe I'll do it later.

The following drawings are two Paw Patrol characters, because my 5-year-old nephew, when he saw that I was drawing, asked me for them, but nobody is a worse customer than him, extremely intense and rebellious, so much so that I started with the sketch and all that and he said to me “that's not how it is, aunt, look and I'll show you” and that went on the whole time, when he saw it finished, that's when he thanked me.

The last three drawings were from a series of Skullpanda figures, they call it The Paradox series, and they are like representations of the dualities and contradictions of human life, and they really seemed quite inspiring to me to draw, as well as beautiful and believe me that after painting them, I wanted to do them digitally but more with my touch, and with another style and interpretation.

The first one I made is called "The Diving In," and it's basically about introspection, the duality of the interior and the exterior. It's a journey into the depths of oneself. On the surface, it's the face we show on the outside and on the inside, in our subconscious filled with so many things. The interesting thing is that the figure is upside down; it's because it wants to denote that radical change, of reflecting on what we have inside. At first, I didn't like how the coloring was coming out, so I did it again, and this was the result:

The next two figures I made were The Jewel Cage, which basically represents this: Can something precious and beautiful also be a prison? And Out of the Mud, which symbolizes this: How can beauty and purity emerge from a dark, dirty environment? When I finished painting them, I wasn't going to do any pen lines, but I felt like it wasn't capturing the elements of the figures well, so I ended up adding some lineart.

I don't know if I saw better without the lines or with the lines. What do you think?

Today I'll see if I get motivated to do all the series and make digital interpretations of them. I'll see how it all turns out.
