Welcome to my 33th #monomad competition entry

Let me take you on a photographic journey from Largo do Chiado to Rua Garrett. Two very emblematic streets, much visited by passers-by in the city of Lisbon. As some of you already know, my passion for black and white photography began when I was a little boy... The old photo album that my grandmother had in the dining room of her house, above a chest where she kept clothes from one season to the next, was my best companion on summer afternoons, or even on rainy autumn mornings...

Caria was the name of my grandmother's land. I spent many holidays there. Some better, some worse. But always with memories that I'll carry with me, however many years I live. I'll never forget the faces of some of my distant relatives, permanently recorded on thick photographic paper, with the photographer's handwritten signature in the bottom corner. True works of art that transport us to the past and those who have passed through here to the present. In a single word: magical.

These experiences have greatly influenced my artistic taste for monochrome and static memory...

For this and many other reasons, it's a way I love to capture moments and express my opinion about my surroundings.

I'm going to share with you the smiles, the posture and even the clothes of the passers-by who strolled along these two streets that day... moments that will never be repeated, or that resemble everything about another sunny Sunday on these same streets. All we have to do is look at our surroundings and focus on different "points". If we look at it from an architectural perspective, the landscape has changed little in the last five years, but the faces and expressions of those captured are entirely unique and unrepeatable, just like the moment... Magical!
